Gardening In Recovery

Talking about my variety I think you just helped my brain calm a little bit   I have been starting to feel like I’m not growing enough, like I need to dig up more plots and expand. I forget that I do have a lot growing, that I can relax and enjoy what I have, and that I used to be overwhelmed with just two 4x4ft beds. How easily I go all in and get carried away. Come back down to earth Jess.

I love seeing all the things that are new to you and getting to experience everyone’s gardening firsts together here! Seeing all of your floral/ornamentals and the way you make use of pots makes me want to try more of that kind of stuff. Your deck is so gorgeous!

Gosh I can relate completely! I have had my own moments of insecurity and self doubt, wishing I had made other choices, etc., but that’s definitely how I learn, by doing. And sometimes things are a bust (like my sad zucchini plant) while others are doing great. The ornamental plants help me a lot because there is less pressure and they just have to look pretty!

This “purple yellow” heirloom (above the massive one I’m holding) is starting to look more ripe! I can’t wait to try it! Plenty more still growing.

Things are coming along!

Bell peppers are turning color:

The green pumpkins are getting huge! I hope I can keep them on the vine till October.

Fun tomato varieties this year:

Another cucumber:

And chile peppers!

I’ve got a couple serrano plants that are popping out lots, also. And a couple massive basil plants that I might try the freezing basil in olive oil this year.

Everyone, your gardens, vegetables, flowers, fruits and vines are all so lovely and growing like crazy!!
@RosaCanDo your herbs are amazing! And that surprise pumpkin! You prob know you can easily root the 4:00’s just sticking them in the dirt or in pots.

First cucumber

And turns out some of the lemon cucumber plants survived being chomped down by the ground squirrels

Harvest before the storms threatening tonight. Can’t wait to try my first heirloom tomatoes! Some of the purple and yellow ones are about ready. Lots of tomatillos ready (maybe even overripe) and a few shishito peppers to try out.

Hi everyone. Have any of you ever grown cucamelons? This is my first year at trying them. Another few weeks and they’ll be ready. It’s my 1st year with a greenhouse and I am loving it. Tomatoes cucumbers chillies peppers cucamelons aubergines plus all my herbs and seedlings to be planted in my raised beds. I dont know how I found time to drink before I’m so busy these days.

I have not. But your garden sounds wonderful! There has been nothing more fulfilling to me than to grow my own food. When I drank heavily I let things die so many times and it was so sad! Happy to have a healthier me and a healthier garden.
