Gardening In Recovery

Lol…I don’t know either but I would watch the plants and I actually did assign genders to a few (and names)…:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Great job and idea. Sobriety makes you mindful of all life’s miracles. Personally being drunk I was blind to glorious nature and all it has to offer us.

Thanks :blush::heart::cherry_blossom:
That’s true. I missed the little things, I was so absorbed by the worst in me. Sobriety does bring one out of one’s self. It’s so much better this way :seedling::herb: One day at a time for me and the plant.

I’m blown away!! Love this so much! You’re all inspiring me to get a planter box going this summer.

Side note: if anyone has recommendations for easy starter plants (as someone with an unfortunate legacy of houseplant sabotage) please let me know :sweat_smile:

I want to start a garden from seeds. Im in the Chicago area so its time I think. Im going to do it inside to start then transfer them outside when ready. Any advice would be appreciated!

I don’t have any advice but I have this emoji that perfectly expresses how great your decision is: :partying_face:
Can’t wait to see the pictures!

Iowa here and the rule is generally to start inside and put everything out on Mother’s Day. I’m an above ground-in pots gardener though so actual ground planting advice may vary.
Before Mother’s Day you still risk a random freeze. Happy planting!

@Ray_M_C_Laren I love your pictures! You are an inspiration. And little bit of a wizard :wink::blush:

@Soli Happy orange tree growing :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

@kmr93 i’d go for a bought little bush tomato plant: soil, pot, sun, water it, fertilizer once a week, harvest

@Frank68 I do most of the seeding indoor, here it’s like @TrustyBird described: potential freezing before mid may. Some bigger seedlibgs are already outside in the shadow to get used to sunlight but I’m prepared to put the boxes inside the house over night when it gets too cold. Kale and company don’t mind cold temperatures, tomatoes is 50:50, eggplant, some beans, chilli, cucurbitacae are dead when it’s below 5°C.
Get startet, it’s a lot reading, learning, trial and error. Bonus tip: keep a journal, you won’t even remember the variety names after 2 months :wink::joy:

This gal here is happy. The big flail mower cut the grassland super short today. By by fucking ticks. Hello me, mowing the spots where no big tractor can go … step by step. Not today. Today is happy short cut grassland day :smiley:

These tulips came up great this year

I believe bulbs are the greatest. Where I live daffodils come up every year. I did not plant them they came with the house. We have been here 6 years and previous owner was elderly. They have to be over 10 years old and keep blooming.
