My name is Shay. I am 3 days sober from alcohol. I am a 34 year old mom and wife and desperately hoping to remain sober. I am so sick of the same repeating cycle for me and am ashamed that I have let it continue this long.
Hello and welcome @Shay92. You have made an awesome decision to stop drinking!!
Three days and I am sure you are in the thick of it trying to figure it all out. It takes support and tools to help you do the work to get alcohol free and it’s SO worth it. Glad you are here. I encourage you to try all the things to find what works for you. The journal prompts in this app are a great start. I personally consumed books and podcasts about quitting alcohol and how to do it. Willpower alone is not enough. Try all the things until you find what works for you.
Reach out here as often as you need to.
Welcome to Talking Sober! Going to an AA meeting is a good idea, particularly if you have been in your own in sobriety. You will find kindred souls there, and learn, by identifying with their stories, just his common your feelings are. And the folks there will also offer suggestions that you might want to try on for size.
Welcome to the community Shay! This is a great place for support or to just hangout and read other people’s story and what they are doing to stay sober.
I will echo getting to a AA meeting. There is one out there that will fit you. Meetings are game changers for me and my sobriety mixed with this community.
Welcome to the community Shay! Well done on your 3 days.
The cycle is a bitch. The minute we start to feel better our addict tries to convince us that we didn’t have a problem, that having one sip or one drink won’t hurt and then we are back in it. Going to sleep swearing we will never drink again and waking up searching for the next drink. You have come to the right place to gain support and help with your journey. We can not do this alone.
Having a plan and some resources to help you stay sober are helpful. I love this community as it has all the tips and tools and support one could need to keep going ODAAT ![]()
