Honestly I think my sleep is messed up cause of my work schedule,

Some days I fall asleep at 1AM others Iā€™m out by 4PM and up at 3AM,

When I was working a normal schedule post rehab, I was one to be in bed by 10, up at 6. I learned how to sleep without the TV and my electronic devices because if your like me which you most likely are, you rabbit hole on your iPad and forget about everything else next thing you know itā€™s 4AM

I couldnā€™t use melantonin, it would put me down, but I would wake up anxious as hell, others I know it works wonders for.

I bet you get more people to join your challenge than my burpee one :joy::joy:

Ps- my screens and lights are out by 8pm unless Iā€™m reading then it might be 8:30 and Iā€™m up around 3:30 or 4 each day

Lol, I am trying to go to bed later.
I still co-sleep with my daughter, normal and expected in the younger years of elementary school in Japan. So I am down and cuddling with her at 9pm. She falls asleep quickly, but then I really struggle to get up to do my own stuff that I want to do.
I donā€™t need the sleep. I often wake in the night for a bit. But the house is cold.
Sorry, Iā€™m derailing. Good luck going to bed early! :first_quarter_moon_with_face:

Iā€™ve been trying to stay off tech before bed but Iā€™m afraid if I donā€™t keep my phone close it wonā€™t wake me when I am on call

But most days I sleep between 9 and 10 and get up around 5 to go for a run and let the dog out. Itā€™s amazing how good it feels to go to sleep early and then wake up early!

I have the worst sleep habit. I usually fall asleep at 12 somewhere between the check in thread and gratitude thread. Phone in hand and sometimes in the middle of posting. I then wake up 2 hours later and turn off the lights. I may check in here quick then back to sleep til 5:30.

The only thing that works for me is magnesium, meditation, and rain noises.

I started taking sleeping pills on and off in college. I broke the habit for good about two months ago after trying every natural thing I could find- magnesium worked.

Ya Iā€™m always wondering what the hell is Lisa doing up if itā€™s 11 or 12 my time and youā€™re on eastern time.

It would probably be a good idea for me to join this challenge. Iā€™m up until 1 or 2. Then, get up at 7:30 or 8 am. However, I am retired, so it really doesnā€™t matter. My spouse goes to bed at 8 or so, and after that I have time for myself. Thatā€™s more important to me than getting up early with him. We are together a LOT. Maybe I donā€™t really want to do this. Iā€™ll get back with you. :upside_down_face:

I totally get all this Phoebe. :joy:
Itā€™s like weā€™re retired. And everywhere we go sheā€™s always there :upside_down_face:  But in my case Iā€™m in bed first. But Iā€™m on my screens way too late. I get my important alone time early in the morning. She likes to sleep in.

I downloaded the free trial of the calm app. I love the sleep stories on there because they help me fall asleep in less than 5 minutes. BUT the app is expensiveā€¦ like $70 a year or something.

I wasnā€™t willing to pay $70 for an app that I would listen to for a few minutes a day so I looked for alternative options. Turns out, Spotify has sleep stories and Iā€™m sure other sites do as well

Still looking for ways to improve my sleep (according to my watch I donā€™t get enough ā€œdeep sleepā€ :joy:) so I will be following this thread!

I am IN. Iā€™ve been using the journaling function of this app to track how Iā€™m doing with not drinking (fucking AWESOME, btw :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:) but also my workouts and school work. Adding my sleep is totally doable. Iā€™m so thankful I found this app! :gift_heart:

Because of Stella @Its_me_Stella I switched to Insight Timer. I use to use the Breathe app. So far the Insight Timer app has been working better for me. Its got a lot of great stuff on there and itā€™s been free so far. I think lots of us use it.

I was thinking of combining Stellaā€™s February meditation challenge just before bed. Insight Timer also has a timer you can set when your not doing a guided meditation.
Thanks Stella :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Ok Big Ed!! Weā€™ll get those sleep muscles in shape in no time. Itā€™s going to take time away from my nightly meme hunts though. Will you be able to handle that?

Whatā€™s a Burpee ?

You get up at 3:30-4am :scream:.
I respect you even more :hugs:. Your amazing.
I use to have a 5:45 am breakfast shift 2 or 3 times a week a long time ago and I had to get up a 4. It was actually my favorite shift. No traffic going or coming home. But when the college drunks were still out meeting my early morning customers was sometimes challenging.

So, thanks for joining in or just checking this out. :pray:t2:
Rules?
I got no rules. Everyone is different so you got to figure out what you want for a good nights sleep.

Iā€™m going to finish off January recording when I shut my screen off or lights off. Probably my screen. Since my light is already off. :joy:. Without changing anything up. See what Iā€™m doing now. Just like when I quit smoking cigarettes. I counted how many cigs I smoked each day the week before I quit. So I had a quit date.

Then in January try to get my screens and lights off around 10 pm. Earlier if Minnie lets me. I figure 10pm is to 6 am is a pretty good chunk of sleep for me.:zzz::zzz:
Thanks again.
:pray:t2::heart:
