Had a very boring week. I was supposed to be working on a new chapter in my life and none of the phone calls I’ve been expecting have come. In fact I was starting to wonder if my phone is malfunctioning. Anyway, I’m going to be going places in person tomorrow get this shiz underway.
About to turn in and “Under The Silver Lake” is on. It’ll have to wait until tomorrow, I got some meditating to do before I try to sleep. I’ve been sleeping without my Seroquel, and it’s going well. :+1:

I think I turned my screens off at 10:24 last night. Did my final dog chores. 5 minute meditation for my meditation challenge at 10:40 ish. And

It’s hard for me to remember the times. And I’m not so sure the times are important for me in this challenge. But not bringing my iPad to bed I’m finding to be the challenge. And so far so good. Complete disclosure: I use the iPad for the meditation gong on my nightstand. The Insight Timer timer thingy. But otherwise I’m not on it. Currently I’m thinking a good 7 hours sleep is wonderful for my recovery and old age.
Hopefully after the February challenge I will continue to have no screens in bed at night. Before bedtime. I’m liking it. I think.

Trying again. Wanted to be in by 10 but I started reading Dry, by Augusten Burroughs. Had a pretty crummy day, so I don’t know if I’ll fall asleep before 3 am, but I’m going to pop a melatonin and cross my fingers. And try to stay off the phone. Wish me luck.

We just can’t get melatonin here in the UK! Not that I know of. I find my sleep is whack for a week after going sober, then slides into a nice pattern. I’m terrible for late nights reading though!!

Tuesday night 8th
Screens off 11 ish.
11:28 lights out.

Wednesday night 9th.
Screens off 11:05
Lights out 11:20.

No screens in the bedroom is working great for sleep. But I’m thinking 10 pm is too early. Getting a better nights sleep and not getting up as often to pee if I got to bed later.

Still figuring it out. But no screens in bed seems to be the real challenge.

I’ve readjusted my ‘screens off and bedtime’ a few times already, and trying to cap it at midnight now (with night light after 6pm), the only electronics I keep on after midnight is a guided sleep meditation on phone if I can’t sleep (with lowest brightness and night light mode). It’s not been easy, but slowly getting out of the unhealthy and totally careless routine and trying to make each night count with time I guess… I’ve learned that sleep is amongst my most important factors in sustained mindfulness and it makes sense in many ways… Especially with sobriety or stress etc it seems to be the basic building blocks like sleep that need extra attention and can really boost or weigh down your day… Good post and challenge Eric, I’m already trying so I’m in I guess! :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m sort of doing a backwards challenge I know I can either control my wake up time or my bedtime, and I’m too old for a bedtime  so starting next week I’m going to get up a 0530 every day, whether it’s my work day or not. My schedule fluctuates so much I need some consistency. (Work at 0900, off, work at 1100, off, work at 0730…)

We’ll see how it goes but hopefully a consistent wake up time will eventually set down sort of rhythm.

I’m also a fan of no phone in the bedroom, just my kindle.

Something to think about Eric.

I know you said you have an iPad that’s your main source of entertainment, you can set a bed time on it which will slowly throttle it down till it’s nighty night.

I came to the conclusion no matter what I do, I won’t be able to get up at 6 am, I backed my bedtime all the way back to 7pm some days I’m still waking up later and flying into work. And im nodding off at my desk till 10ish

So im trying to move to a later start shift to offset, figure if I start at 930 am, I should be on time

@Ravikamor
Just coming clean
It was Saturday night movie night. And we were having a good time.

Anyway. No creeps in the bedroom. So I’m calling it a win. The old guy can stay up late once and awhile. I think

6 minute deep breathing meditation probably asleep by 12:30 am.
