Your post got flagged? Must have been a mistake. The conservation of matter is a totally cool law. Nothing is ever destroyed completely. It just changes states. Chemical bonds change. The matter is still always there. Gasses dissipate, compounds dissociate, all that. It’s just fascinating to think about.
Yes, and it’s so…poetic !
The flagged post wasn’t this one but the one I was responding to
gotcha. Oh well. You can accumulate quite a bit of flags before you get severely punished, so no sweat. Just ask @Englishd. He’s the King of Flags
.
I wouldn’t recommend going for my record. Mind blowing thought is that I’m still allowed here
That’s the most mind blowing thought of all!
This is freaking amazing!!!
“gravitational instabilities in the structure of space-time break the delicate quantum superposition between particles and thus give rise to consciousness.”
Duplicating this sentence sure blew my mind. Thanks Aybee.
That’s awesome! I wonder if he was losing sensation into his right arm by having it draped over the barrier. The numbness may have given him phantom sensations. Fascinating!
Phantoms in the Brain. It’s a book about amputees and what they feel. Its, from what I remember (it’s been 2 decades atleast since I had to read it) a tad clinical…but extremely fascinating.
The first James Webb telescope’s pictures ?
MIND BLOWING
You will never be as young as you were when you read the first word of this a few seconds ago
I have no words…just…I could look at them all day.
That is truly crazy. It just blows my mind how they can get these pictures, considering when you see images from the ISS it’s just black space with a few winks of stars. They must have an incredibly wide lens?
It’s been a while. I’ve been hoping to be more active in the forum. Had a thought recently when I had heard that China’s army was the strongest in the world with the most forces. Thought that I would delve in to figure out who actually has the strongest military in the world.
China has the most active military personnel at 2,185,000 strong, with 660,000 paramilitary.
Vietnam having only 482,000 active military personnel, still boasts the largest due to its 5 million people in reserve.
In the USA, there were a total of 1.195 million active-duty military and more than 778,000 reserve forces according to September 2021 data from the Department of Defense. At 801 billion US dollars, the United States has the greatest military budget. Because of this, the United States boasts the world’s most powerful military.
It’s been snowing a lot here where I live. Not like we’re getting dumped on or anything, but we have maybe 6 inches and it’s cold enough to freeze the roads. Cars are sliding around like crazy. Got me asking questions to myself like, “What was the worst snowstorm in history?” Here’s what I found:
Iran, 1972. A freak Blizzard blew in and lasted for a week. Snow accumulations ranged from 3 meters (9.8 ft) to as deep as 8 meters (26 ft) in Southern Iran. The deeper areas buried multiple towns and villages resulting in ≥ 4,000 fatalities.
Back in 1984, Uwe Hohns broke the world record for the Javelin throw. This particular throw changed the sport forever. His throw of 104.80 meters obliterated the prior record. It has yet to be matched and experts believe that this throw will never be beaten.
In general, a person falling through the air on Earth reaches terminal velocity after about 12 seconds, which covers about 450 meters or 1500 feet . A skydiver in the belly-to-earth position reaches a terminal velocity of about 195 km/hr (54 m/s or 121 mph).
I know I’ve talked about this before, but I wanted to state it again to make a different point.
The closest geographic point between the borders of the USA and Russia lies in the Bering Strait located in the Pacific Ocean. The islands of Big Diomede and Little Diomede are just 2.4 miles away from each other, but time-wise, they are 21 hours apart.
The point is in the time difference. One might ask, why is it that they are 21 hours apart instead of 23 hours? I mean, they are literally within sight of each other…
Short answer is that Alaska has only one time zone, yet takes up a massive amount of Longitude. The Uniform Time Act renamed the time zone in 1966 to Alaska-Hawaii Standard Time, one hour behind Pacific Time. The International Date Line is not exactly straight down a Longitude, it weaves around.
So, now you know. You can travel 21 hours back in time by walking across the 2.4 mile ice bridge during the winter.
