Motivation and meditation posts (Part 1)

One ship drives east and another drives west
With the selfsame winds that blow.
Tis the set of the sails
And not the gales
Which tells us the way to go.
Like the winds of the seas are the ways of fate,
As we voyage along through the life:
Tis the set of a soul
That decides its goal,
And not the calm or the strife.

Excellent poem…and another way to say, Decide to be better, and then work to be better! :grinning:

It’s like Nelson Mandela said: “Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it” You can feel afraid, but choose to conquer that fear! That’s bravery💪

Am on day 15, and whilst ok temptation has reared its head about 4 times. Has anyone ever tried hypnosis as a cure for temptation and did it work?

I haven’t heard of hypnosis for a cure for craving other than for smoking but that is not to say it is not an option. If it exsists I’m curious to know if it does work. 15 days is great. Great job on that. As you progress those cravings will get less. When mine popped up in the early stages I called someone or went to a meeting it helped to talk to like minded people. Hang in there your doing great.

Thanks Butch

Clearly seeing the state of how others are.

Compassion comes from having concern and clearly seeing the state of how others are.
By shifting our attention away from being concerned with merely ourselves, we begin to tune into how other beings feel.

Soon we realize that their aims and what they actually manage to achieve are in a total contradiction.

Everyone wants to be happy and free, but the very things we pursue through our thoughts words and deeds for the most part just create entanglement, disappointment and pain.

When one really sees this clearly, the sense of compassion becomes overwhelming.

I’m sure people have, whether it’s effective I don’t know.

Like @Butch says though a meeting might help. As well as AA there is SMART and also Refuge Recovery. Probably more! Being here is also a good start. Keep reading, check in often and reach out whenever you need to :pray:
