Movies Check-in / Reviews šŸ“¼

I’m sorry to hear about your brother I don’t wish incarceration on anybody Especially when it’s related to addiction or mental health. I hope he’s hanging in there and has a routine and is fairly easy for him all things considered. Been there done that if I’m being honest one of my main motivators for staying sober is that if I relapse I’m going to prison for three years. If anything happens ,any new arrest, even a single failed drug test, any interaction with police I’m getting three years. Even when I get done probation I’m prison mandatory now. So I don’t drink or do opiates and I won’t have to worry about going to prison. Florida is a point system and I have way too many points. Anyway sorry for the story but maybe what I just wrote will help somebody…

That’s pretty interesting you got to see Jim Morrison’s grave. I read his biography when I was 16 years old. That book had a major impact on me because it introduced me to a lot of writers, directors, movies, artist and other musicians I didn’t know about. One that stands out the most is Jack Kerouac. I know just about everything about Jim Morrison. I bought that biography around the same time that I moved from Pennsylvania to Florida. The first album I bought was LA woman which interestingly enough is their last album.. I remember me and my brother were staying in a hotel because we were waiting for the house to be finished and I drove my brother nuts listening to that album Over and over all night long During this time I was sober and hadn’t touched anything not even a single drink. Then I bought the biography and it introduced me to a life honestly I didn’t know about. I can’t blame the doors on my downfall or introduction to drugs alcohol and craziness but it definitely made me curious about a lot.

Definitely watch book of Eli. It’s a post apocalyptic movie with Denzel Washington and Mia Kunis. It’s 10 out of 10 in my opinion. It’s seriously awesome. there will be a scene where there’s a guy running a pawnshop and the guy playing the pawnshop owner is Tom waits who is a musician I’m not sure if you know him.

I haven’t heard Of most of those suggestions but thank you I will definitely look them up.

It would be hard to guess how many movies I’ve watched but well over a 1000. Currently I watch at least one a day. It’s a good healthy escape. I was talking with one of my best friends how it’s interesting that at least speaking for myself I can tell if a movie is good within 60 seconds. I don’t know how to explain that or what makes a movie good or bad but I just know right away.

I’m going to make a list of my favorite movies and post on this thread I don’t think that will bother anybody. I know this is mainly for reviews and one movie at a time but I’m going to post a really long list of my favorites. It won’t take long to make that list

Sorry you have done time too, definitely stay clean and clear! If / when my brother gets out, he has to stay super clean or else he will never be outside again. My Mom says she is holding on so she can see him again (she is 89). It is a heartbreaking thing.

I do know Tom Waits! Cool. Like Tom Petty in The Postman?

@SassyRocks After trying to make a list of some of my favorite movies I realize it’s really difficult because there is so many lol. But this is a good one to start with I highly recommend every single one of these movies. I’m not too big on anything else except just basic drama movies or thrillers. My favorite time for movies is probably the 90s or early 2000s. There was a period in my movie watching where I found a thrift store that sold VHS tapes for five cents and at the time I was unemployed and living with my parents so I was watching like five or six movies a day. This was probably like 20 years ago. Out of everything I listed probably there will be blood, book of Eli, And Inglourious Bastards is in my top 10. I probably would’ve kept going with my list but then it would be a really really long post. I guarantee I’m forgetting at least 20 or 30 movies actually probably way more than that. This is not a specific order just what I could think of.

Ps: James and the giant peach is my favorite movie from childhood. I recently tried to find a hat or a piece of clothing from that movie but it was hard to find. As an adult I can still watch that movie

I don’t think I could do as good a job as you did! I will take a closer look at your list. We have somewhat similar taste in movies for sure.
