My Higher Power... God šŸŒ¹

@Butterflymoonwoman ,do you have a patience prayer, is there one? ā€¦I know as much about prayer as I know about quantum physics , but Iā€™m willing to try . Tbh .I gave myself a fear of going into a church as soon as I became an addict 25 years ago :pensive: my using has left me with zero patience .my central nervous system and addict brain for at least the last year seems to have stopped coping with any form of waiting.it can take me to dangerous places and or cause distressing situations for me and the people who have had to encounter me being in a completely irrational state

@19801 Hi!!! I dont have a specific prayer that I use for patience but i absolutely do pray often for patience in a general sense. When i pray, i talk as if Im speaking to a friend. Basicslly having a conversation about my day, my worries and fears, asking for guidance and support where I need it for the day. Often times i pray for patience bcuz people, places and things annoy me lol
When i pray for patience i ask for help in slowing down. Im usually in a rush and so slowing down and just enjoying the moment (being present) is crucial for me. I pray for kindness to others. I pray to be of service to others throughout my day. That im thinking of others instead of myself. All these things help me be patient

Honestlyā€¦ u dont have to go to church to have a connection to God. I dont go to church either and my connection to my HP, which happens to be God, is developed outside of the church setting. I still have some issues with certain things related to religion. Thats why i call myself spiritual.

Religion are for those that dont want to go to hell, while spirituality are for those that have been to hell and dont want to go back.

You can definitly give prayer a try and see if it helps. I usually like to pray in the mornings to get myself on the right track for the day. And then when needed, i pray during the day. Like if i have little patience with others, ill just stop, pause, and say a quick prayer for guidance and patience for me to slow down. I find it helps!!

Happy anniversary! Wonderful hearing 23 years and healing any damage done before sobriety. I myself am just doing that and still feel it is worth the hard work and struggles.

I love this. I will be sharing this with my AA group.

Just now starting my non smoking journey. Iā€™m lost.

These are my thoughts on church and growing stronger with God and my faith daily. Now it doesnā€™t come over night. Itā€™s a process that I have had to slowly/personally with Jesus build up and get into some place I can get the proper help, love, guidance, and just a place to really praise God with others and become stronger in the community. We donā€™t want to just keep what heā€™s done/doing in our lives to ourselves. We need to share them and help show others what Gods love truly can do and be like.

Imagine a group of people and in an authentic community, loving each other honestly, covering each otherā€™s sins with forgiveness, prayer, confession, and encouragement, and serving and supporting each other genuinely. When we dream of a small group of people dwelling together in unity, we begin to see the supernatural work of God within our relationships. We only get stronger and grow wiser together. Iā€™d rather people not be turned away from God because of ā€œchurchā€ or bad experience and still do their thing personally with God, but when you can come together with others in God, itā€™s a beautiful thing.

It is much more than a building. In the Bible, ā€œchurchā€ never refers to a building. It always refers to peopleā€”the people who follow Jesus Christ. The church is the body of Christ

ā€œI have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are oneā€” I in them and you in meā€”so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.ā€

Hi Corine,

I love this thread and @Butterflymoonwoman, @jbaldwin84 and all other contributions. To chime in on the prayer for patienceā€¦one I like to use oftenā€¦is the Serenity prayer. Itā€™s often used at AA/NA meetings as well. ā€œGod grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, courage to change the things I can and wisdom.to know the difference.ā€ I say this prayer anytime I feel overwhelmed, anxiousā€¦it helps to calm and ground me
ā€¦it reminds meā€¦I am never alone.

I have had to recite the serenity prayer twice this morning. Hubby contemplating trading a boat for a motorcycle. We are not kids anymore and I feel anxious having him ride. Already before deal done he wants to ride mountain roads. But hey I have been on many a rides in back I can do it once again. Definitely my helmet will be orange as my favorite color.

Yes @Butterflymoonwoman i think it does !!! I ask for guidance in making the right choice s today , I ask for inspiration if Iā€™m not sure what to do .it was about the supermarket today! .Iā€™m not good in there atm .I used to only buy alcohol when I went in one and crap food sometimes to eat stoned (even then it would go mouldy because Iā€™d drink and not eat)now Iā€™m not smoking weed I donā€™t know what I want I have no appetite yet but Iā€™m eating ok . Anyway I get in a supermarket and canā€™t make a decision and I start spinning out and getting anxious so I leave without anything. As Iā€™m getting used to praying itā€™s easier to do and I think Iā€™m in touch with my thoughts and believing things will be ok throughout the day because of it . I also think if something is wrong Iā€™ll just pray again I wonā€™t die :ok_hand:by joe I think the girls getting it :joy:
