Neighborhood Coffeehouse Gos-Sipping

hey there, no harm intended, just innocent teasing. certainly not calling you any names for making your own drinks
the entire thread is based on the fact that someone was accused of being a snob for frequenting starbucks - so the snob label has been used here thoroughly ironically and variedly by all participients, not in earnest. sorry if that wasnā€™t sufficiently clear.

there is obvs some light banter going on on this thread between team plain coffee w milk vs and team 15 ingredients no less! I think itā€™s fair to say youā€™ve picked your team

but enough of explaining the jokes now ! fly your coffee freak flag high and enjoy

any day of the week, just like the rest of us weirdos! cheers! :coffee:

Honeslty I figured it was harmless, but coffee drinkers have big opinions, I know that for sure! My father in law says at his house, ā€œIā€™d offer you a coffee, but you like all that stuff in itā€ lol so I get it!

Haha not sure why i thought the cinnamon toast crunch was the main part of the drink :sweat_smile:
I also make and drink coffee at home. I do drink Starbucks a lot but itā€™s cuz I drink for free all shift, and i work almost every day.
Hope i wasnā€™t harsh in my reply earlier. It does look super sweet to me. But like I said, like a dessert. So no hate.
Im more of a plain espresso (with maybe some oatmilk to cool it enough to drink quickly)
How did you find all of the inclusions? You said your wife brought the cold brew right. Did she find all the toppings too? Or you came across them?

Hey, @SoberGuyUSA whyā€™d you change the name of the thread anyway?:sweat_smile: I accidentally happened upon the regular coffee thread :sob::rofl: i wanna be here with my fellow ā€œcoffee snobsā€:rofl:

Lol its my obsession! The syrup is amazon online, but the rest I get at my local grocery store (hyvee). I have tried all sorts of stuff to try and make a good SB knock off at home! Iā€™ve used pumpkin puree to make the caramel macchiato froth more pumpkin spice, which is actually damn good!!! Not waxy like it can be from SB. I have struggled with coldbrew though, the flavor is never quite right with Stok and Wide Awake, but being ready to pour makes it convenient. Soooo I was adding 2 shots of blonde espresso to my salted caramel coldbrew from SB, also I love the brown sugar oatmilk shaken espresso from yall (also 2 extra shots), so I bought an espresso machine with christmas money instead of booze this year (yay me) and not gonna lie its worth every damn penny  Got the blonde espresso (1LB) from SB and grind it up myself. Its sooo good!!!

My biggest buggabu was I dont want a pod machine, and nothing fancy, just a regular espresso machine.

I Also have a Mr coffee for espresso at home. Though itā€™s a few years old, and i never use the steam wand  I didnā€™t want the pods either as they get super expensive! It makes a good espresso when you get the hang of tamping the shot  also thatā€™s awesome you bought it with money you saved not getting your doc!!!
Todayā€™s my 100 day and Iā€™m trying to think of what i should do to celebrate (albeit something small) maybe a yummy coffee :blush:

Iā€™ve heard the glass bottle frappuccino is supposed to be put in the freezer (but probably donā€™t forget itā€™s there too long) and it will make the at home version of a frappuccino at Starbucks.
Disclaimer*** i have never tried this, only heard this is what youā€™re supposed to do

I have these at home  plus hazelnut, peppermint, and just finished caramel brulee. (who wants some???)

But theyā€™re mostly for the kids. I canā€™t drink too sweet coffee

Any of these SB fraps, macchiatos, and lattes, creamed espresso drinks are OK for on the go. I typically wont drink a whole one because they are loaded with fats and sugars  I use a half serving and shake in a blender bottle with ice, to get that coldbrew foam we all love, or at least I do :yum:

These are good, and a guilty pleasure if im at a convenient store, Iā€™ll get 1. But dont feed them to the gremlins, lol :joy:

Ice cream.
This is what I am wondering about and I was going to ask this question today. I love coffee ice cream but I donā€™t like the calories.

I did buy a small HƤagen-Dazs in a tiny container today.

I can drink espresso, by the way, I have my little Bialetti Kitty to make it in.

The last few days Iā€™ve been thinking I should be able to make some coffee ice cream that isnā€™t 210 cal for 3.6 ounces.

Iā€™m thinking about getting Siggi yogurt and adding coffee to it. Maybe adding just ground or instant coffee. Any of yā€™all have any ideas?

What Iā€™m interested is something thatā€™s similar to ice cream that doesnā€™t have the calories that ice cream has.

The last few days this has been on my mind and Iā€™ve wanted to ask the group here.

Iā€™ve never had any of the fancy Starbucks drinks except what you get at the grocery store in the bottle and yes thatā€™s good and delicious and serves its purpose when itā€™s needed.

It just might be my best answer to the ā€œice creamā€ and just have small doses of it.

What does GOS stand for in the title? To whomever knows. I donā€™t. The title of this thread.

I see the whole bottle from the grocery store of the Starbucks Frappuccino with vanilla is 290 cal. Its 13.7 ounces, it seems like if you freeze that it would be good as a frozen treat and at 290 cal thereā€™s a lot more of it,( can divide it for more portions,) than a little bitty 3.6 ounce container of Hagen Das for 220 cal. Hmmmmmm.

I think itā€™s just gossiping cut in half to make the word ā€œsippingā€ā€¦ I could be wrong though

Also, Starbucks frozen drinks (frappuccinos) are made with a ā€œbaseā€ that has guar gum and xanthan gum in it we used to carry a light option that was sweetened with sugar free sweetener, but it did still have some sugar. Iā€™m not sure why they discontinued it :sob:

But with that said, i think you can use your coffee and milk of choice, add ice, any amount of sweetener, and some xanthan gum or something like it, if you have it

Iā€™m not sugar adverse. Iā€™m just high calorie adverse. I see! Gos sipping !!

@Alisa We used this little toy ice cream machine my daughter got for her birthday, it turns the bottled fraps or lattes into something similar to frozen yogurtā€¦

I think low-fat milk if you use dairy milk would be good then. For the (discontinued) light frappuccinos we used non fat dairy milk
