Hello! I am checking in, 5th day sober, and the first i start feeling like a functioning human being. New to this forum, trying to understand how everything works. After my last binge drinking that lasted for 3 days, but there was a lot…. I understand I can’t do it alone… i tried. Or i am step by step going to lose everything. I would not have stopped if not my husband arriving from his business trip, that was ugly. I am traveling a lot, thus online community would be great. I am promising myself no matter what or how busy i am, every day to do something about my sobriety, even if it is 5 minutes in between the busy meeting schedule. I hope to get support and be supportive as well.
Welcome! This place has been a huge asset for my recovery. 24/7
Thank you! That’s encouraging

Welcome to the community!
Early on, I adopted the philosophy that I had to do something about my alcoholism every day, or it would do something about me. I’m still working on growing it, day by day.
Check out the FAQ thread, lots of great ideas on there: Frequently asked questions about sobriety for newcomers
Thank you! That’s an useful link.
Snd yeah right, i learned the hard way that i have to do something about my sobriety every day, or it will do something to me, so right! My lingest sobriety streak was 3 years, AA experience, but then i somehow got “tired” of it, and here i am again ![]()

Glad you are here! This is a great place to find support for living a sober life and resources for combating addition! There are plenty of threads here dedicated to recovery as well as things like art, music, film, sports, animals, nature and more!
I’ve included a link to a thread here on TS where I and many others check in to provide and receive support! It’s been a big help for me!

Thank you! I will check that link out:)
Seems like i am in a right place!
Nature thread sounds lovely. One of my big drivers for wanting to get sober is so that I can enjoy being out in nature more! I’d like to be able to get up early and watch sunrises and listen to the dawn chorus but I miss all that a lot of the time
.
Welcome Linda! It’s my first day here. Sounds like you are doing great ![]()
I’m glad you’re here as well!
Enjoying things like sunrises, sounds of birds and the simple calmness of nature are definitely things to look forward to! Being sober has helped me focus on the now rather than worrying about the past or stressing about the future. Just one of many things sobriety has given me an opportunity to practice! ![]()

I just got off a 3 day binge and was one of the worst I’ve had. I’m done with it. We can do this!
Welcome @Linda6 and @Sobanoodle ! This place has made a huge difference for me. Everyone here understands the struggle and everyone here is rooting for you.
When I was first getting sober and really struggling with cravings, the deal I made with myself was that I had to come here and read first before I was “allowed” to give in and drink. And every time it worked.
So glad you found us!!
And welcome back, @Yeldarb011 !
This is so kind thank you and
I will be coming on here to help snap me out of any wobbly moments. I’m both excited and terrified to start the journey at the same time ![]()
Lets go! I don’t want to suffer like that anymore. Glad uou are off of it
Thank you! Thats great advice you are using for yourself, i will take it too!
Welcome. As you travel a lot (which I used to do for work) you will have us with you all the time. Great resource. We are all in this together. ![]()
I am also new to this, 3 day sober from a week of binge drinking. Finally said enough when I was hung over throwing up my brains. I don’t want to feel like that again so I decided to show up for myself in healthier ways.
