They’re really gross. I had to have another ONE, and only one, tonight after dinner to make sure it was still gross. It was.

Did you throw them away?

No I did not :rofl:
Not yet anyway.

I’m happy you could stop in for a chuckle Alisa. Laughter is the best medicine. Next to music that is. I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving :pray:t2::heart:

Thanks @Dazercat and back to you too!

I GET the conversation and of course you know I’m not laughing at you!
You’re doing so great.
Your no sugar added baked goods look wonderful.
( I would eat the whole delicious loaf, Minnie would be appalled :open_mouth:) ( she would probably want to duck out of that photo op)
Who knows though, without the sugar in there maybe I wouldn’t.

I do have some thing that I’ve been able to eat one portion of. One big portion. It’s a protein pancake. I can have it made in less than five minutes. Dangerous.
Lately a few times I’ve gotten them on my brain and I thought oh the boxes are outside not in the house,

And then tonight I got a new bag of cat food out of the cabinet and saw the box of the protein pancake mix right there. Yikes.

There is a little sugar added not much. 1 or 2 g or something.
But for some reason, making it and eating it, I don’t want to eat the whole rest of the box. I’ve never made a second one after eating the first one.

I don’t know if it’s because of the protein or what. Around Halloween I was going to do a post called “ the monster in my house”.
I think there’s a big bear on the Box.
A friend of mine camps out a lot and she kept talking about her protein pancakes…

It’s 200 cal for one big giant pancake.
But something about it makes me Have enough restraint not to make another one, or just mix it up with the almond milk and eat it raw dough uncooked. :scream:
You probably don’t get that part.
@Its_me_Stella probably does.
I’ve never told y’all the story about eating the 75 stroopwaffles. :face_with_raised_eyebrow::flushed::roll_eyes: . Summer 2019
I think I did post about eating eight to 16 of them not that long ago in the summer.
Can not have any around me unsupervised.

As long as your laughing it’s cool with me :joy:
No I personally don’t get that part about the raw dough. But I understand or try to if you know what I mean. Now cookie dough I could totally get :grimacing:

Stroppwaffles :yum:
I can remember the first time I had them. It was on American Airlines. I was addicted immediately. :grimacing:. OMG most wonderful thing I’ve ever put in my mouth :joy: I’m glad I couldn’t find them and don’t seek them out.

Still going strong over here with the no extra added sugar.

A little sad I won’t be continuing our Cheesecake tour of LaLa Land when we get out there. That was fun. But I won’t be sad without the extra added sugar calories. And the gelatos :cry:

Hey Dazer, you just gave me some confidence. These past 2 months, I’ve been binging on sugar likes there no tomorrow, and since I was here last I’m up at least 10lbs, and +20 in the past 4 months. Have you noticed any significant benefits in terms of energy, and do you cap your daily sugar intake?

Join in. Love to have you around.
I was substituting a shit load of sugar over the summer because of my heart procedures I had done. I figured it was better than drinking. I needed something. I’ve always had a sweet tooth anyway.

So I was getting some major headaches and I thought it could be the sugar. And I tend to eat cookies and chocolate and gelato etc… like I use to drink. To excess :grimacing:. I kind of binged on my last gelato knowing I was going to start this thread. And I just stopped.

I do feel better. Eventually less and now that I think about it much less headaches. Over all I do feel better. And I reckon it’s helping me with my weight loss maintenance. I was up to 245-250 when I started my sober journey and weight loss journey at the same time. I’m trying to maintain 195-200.

I’ve tried to find a few sugar free, keto like snacks to indulge in but they either taste like shit. Or I eat them all at once. So I think it is best for me if I just abstain.

As far as cooking and restaurants I eat what I like and if a menu or recipe calls for sugar I don’t worry about it. For me it was the snacking sweets and desserts and pastries etc…….
Hope that helps.

I think my energy has been fine for an almost 62 year old. Lately when I get nappy in the afternoon I been talking an extra walk and that must get the blood flowing or something and it perks me up to cook dinner.

And I don’t even think about capping my daily sugar intake. As long as my sugar intake isn’t “added sugar”. For example my smoothies have no added sugar. And I know some canned foods like sauces have extra added sugar but I don’t worry about that. I don’t eat too much of that anyway.

I see. I’m not sure how my binging may or may not correlate to my sobriety, but I do know that all I’ve desired for weeks now is junk. I go through phases of eating pretty healthy and somehow till this day I’m 15 months meat free. I even scoff at sugar drinks and like my stuff bitter sweet which is ironic, but when it comes to eating my sugar it’s been mainly icecream and chocolate/breaded desserts, tho sky’s the limit. I’ve done well so far today. Only eating 10g of added sugar in the form of a greek yogurt bar which I believe was the first thing I ate today.

I relapsed at 11:50PM
Ate like 9 cookies, 2 per serving of 160cal, 11g sugar. I made it almost 12 hours though!! Gonna dust off and stay on track today!

Still going strong.

I wanted to make macaroons for Christmas. I love them. I did not realize condensed milk is basically all sugar. :grimacing:

I found this recipe.
Can anyone recommend a sweetener that doesn’t have that gross after taste that some of them have?
@Alisa ?
@ShesGotMoxie
@Its_me_Stella

I’ve never used a sweetener other than drinking it in a diet drink like Sprite.
I do use xylitol as a mouth spray but that’s a different thing.
Here is a link for substitutes I did not click on the coconut milk to see how much sugar was in it. How much added sugar. I texted a friend of mine who does a lot of baking and uses a sweetener to see which one she likes.
I would say evaporated milk with honey in it.
Please make enough for all of us

If you can’t be convinced to use real maple syrup or honey ( or like sugar made from dates) I found this:

I can’t vouch for the taste but delish is a decent little food blog :slight_smile:

Now exiting the SF thread so I don’t suddenly combust in flames for not belonging here haha
