@Dazercat I think you should enjoy your France trip including the desserts. Heck you may not even like it that much because it could be too sweet since you have been away from sugar for so long. I like the sharing idea. (You didn’t ask my opinion but I gave it anyway )
Thank you. I did ask for your opinion.
Read the top line again.
Sugar freaks
And you make a great point about it being too sweet since I’ve been off the sugar.
Always accept your opinion.
Very wise you are.
Thank you
Once you get through a week or two you won’t miss any of it, I’ve cut out all that unnesiciary food and coffee, cake ice creams cookies even on my birthday I have pie instead, and it only get easier and easier as time goes on. Just believe you don’t need it and find other more fulfilling healthier foods or tea.
It’s a cake walk after cutting out cocaine and alchool and other intoxicants Im almost living an ascetic life style now. Minus the supplements I take for physical training and to make up for dietary restrictions due to IBS like symptoms I had most of my life.
Fellow sugar freak here — I say enjoy a few sweet treats in France! Keep in mind if you haven’t had added sugar for a year it may … upset your tummy a bit
If your wife can’t finish a cookie and you don’t want to commit to a whole dessert, maybe have her order dessert and then ask her to save the last bite or two for you? I have had my hubs do that in the past when I’m trying to cut back but still want a lil somethin
Condensing ideas that I want to convey is a daily struggle that I actively work on. Never hurts for someone to remind me not to be a long winded bag of hot air.
I get the psychological part about not making it a year, but you basically did and it’s not like you are ending a tad early for something you could have at any time. Everything in life is a trade off of some sort. Good luck! I expect to see pictures of all these delicious things!
Thank you. You do always make really good points. I’ll be sure to post on the foodies thread. I don’t think I should torture you all here on the no sugar thread. I’m actually very interested to see how it all unfolds. And like someone said it’s not like I’m scarfing a 5 pound bag of M&Ms in front of the TV.
Thanks again.
Day 2 was a bit rougher. I took loads of watermelon and cantaloupe to the noon meeting, I told another member who is also a recovering food addict about my stuggle. After the meting stated someone walked in with a huge container of homemade cookies! Gasp!
To say I was grateful I had already confided in the other member would be under stating it. Lol
My higher power had my back today thats for sure. Plus that member was sitting right next to the cookies so it was much easier to just grab the fruit
Few people helped themselves to the fruit but man oh man did they devor those cookies
I’m exhausted today. I know I’m pushing the sugar toxins out, and I dont drink caffeine and this will pass in just a few days.
I didn’t know for the longest time that you can edit your posts after you’ve posted. Just hit the little pencil icon by your post and hit save edit after you’ve fixed what you want. Keep up the good work.
Are these just a bitter dark chocolate or what do they use as an alternative sweeter?
I got all excited about those cookies you posted before but it turns out I am allergic to a few artificial sweeteners and I cannot eat those. So far stevia and monkfruit have been the only safe ones for me and I’ve had such a sweet tooth!
Sooooo i bought tic tacs tonight not even thinking they have sugar in them. I just assumed they were made with artificial sugar. I had 3 or 4 and then looked. It didn’t say sugar content in the nutritional value spot so I had a few. Then I looked at the ingredient list. The first freaking ingredient is SUGAR!
So, do I gotta start my freaking counter over because of a mistake? Lol like I didn’t willingly buy or eat sugar. I tossed them immediately. I didn’t have any fruit available and was tired of gum. I will definitely be more diligent about looking at the ingredient list and not the nutritional values. Zero calories my ass if the 1st ingredient is sugar!
Tomorrow will be a challenge. Its my husband’s 52nd birthday and all the family is coming over with cake of course. I will be sure to have plenty of fruit and some no sugar added Popsicles here for a tasty treat. I domt care for the cake they usually buy with that awful buttercream icing but still, I want to be prepared.
I will reset my counter if people think I should. I dont feel like the tic tacs were a slip but at the same time I want to be accountable to people who understand and can help me overcome this.
No reset necessary.
I got a story on here about a cute biscuit at a fancy hotel I popped in my mouth without think about. It was so cute. We had traveled a long way. I got a hot tea. They had complimentary biscuits. And my wife said. You know you just ate a cookie? It was tiny. So I wrote in the same way you are.
You caught it.
You stopped.
Your good.
As long as we aren’t drinking we deserve slack on this one.
I use to do tic tacs too.
I think they are pretty good. I don’t usually like sugar substitutes. But these are ok. I just hate the container. Of course you can get them on Amazon.
