I came here for the Yorkshire puddings! What’s all this discussion about alcohol

Took me more than 100 tries but I have finally perfected gluten free Yorkshire puddings. I couldn’t be without them.

In the booze question - your home, your rules so whatever you feel most comfortable with. We do have to get used to alcohol around us though…

I used to make gluten free yorkshire puds with cornflour instead of plain flour when i tried a gluten free diet to help my psoriasis, i had them pretty perfect :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
Thats the recipe i followed Gluten Free Yorkshire Puddings - Gluten Free Tranquility

I know its not absolute necessity to get used to being around the booze but so many of my friends are drinkers i kinda just want to get ok with it, they dont leave me out or anything but ive refused alot of socials where i knew drink was going to be… i dont feel like i miss out because i miss drinking but i miss out on the socialising

Very understandable! It can take time and practice to feel comfortable and confident in such settings. Being aware of that, as you are, is wise. And always knowing you can excuse yourself if needed. It is a process, learning how to be without the alcohol. Baby steps helped me a lot.

Okay I have had something very much like this in two different recipes I’ve made over the years, though neither were called Yorkshire pudding. One is a ‘Nun Puff’ recipe, though the recipe in the book is more akin to these than actual nun puffs.

Another is a recipe is for ‘German pancake’ (which is like a Dutch baby but made in the oven), but the ingredients are the same as that for recipes I’ve looked at online for Yorkshire pudding (minus any savory drippings or additions) and the cooking method is similar except that it is made in a 9x13 baking pan.

I’m going to give a couple Yorkshire pudding recipes a try. :+1:

Best Yorkie pudding recipe is equal parts of milk, egg, flour. In cup measurements rather than weight. For sanity, measure the runny egg last in the cup.

I add loads of herbs in mine. Absolutely molten fat and fridge cold batter.

This is similar to mine BUT I use half cornflour/half GF flour, I keep the oven 10 degrees C hotter and use refined coconut oil because it has an incredibly high evaporation point so you don’t get any smoke (232C)

Also- blender for the mixing rather than a whisk

I haven’t had them in years, no - decades, but they were a side for special sunday roast dinners with the Grandmas when I was a child. I probably ate a less-authentic Canadianized version, but basically recall them being flavourful vessels to hold/mop up more gravy… :see_no_evil:

Yes, they are a must to mop up the gravy
