Agave in my neighborhood which has what is probably the tallest and most impressive flower stalk I’ve seen. Has to be 3 stories high, maybe more.

Greenhouse this morning

This weekend begins our descent into summertime hell - gonna start flirting with 110ºf in the next few days (that’s 43ºc for my global friends). Everyone is getting a heavy drink of water tomorrow morning!

I’ve had to play with the shade cloth situation as I learn how to best set up my greenhouse with this new material I outfitted it with back in February.
While many plants were doing OK, I made some changes to the shade cloth because I had a lot of plants exhibiting signs of stress and not growing. Previously, I had 30% shade cloth on the south-facing (left side) wall and roof. Now I have 50% shade cloth on both sides of the roof and left the walls open.

Felt like it might be too dark at first, but after just a handful of days back in Boston, I came home to find my plants looking MUCH better and several of them now waking up and growing vigorously

This aloe species will turn blue and grow into a big ol’ cluster. Should look really cool after a few years.

Pachypodium brevicaule was going well so I transplanted into my vacant skull pot.

This is my 3rd attempt at growing one of these :crossed_fingers:
Got it a few months ago and it was still in the seedling soil I bought it in, growing vigorously, so I’m keeping it with that instead of my usual potting medium.

That woody bit at the bottom will get big and fat, hopefully filling in the top of the skull.

I usually have so many plants! But, I am in the process of moving and didn’t want to commit to something I’d have to leave behind. So, here are a few of my permanent friends. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

This is Johnson and Peter. It’s unfair that they’re both growers.

This is Wanda. She’s been with us for 2 years and is already a proud mama!

These are a couple sweet potatoes I found sprouting in my mom’s kitchen, and I thought: waste not, want not. And I threw some petunias in to help attract aid against potato eating bugs.

This is Pearl. She recently got a haircut because her strings were 16+ inches. So now I have a bunch of baby Pearls.

And this is Joy. I got her last year for an anniversary gift for my wife.

Plants make me exceedingly happy and I love, and find great comfort, in seeing all of the beautiful ones on here!

I like to buy the ones on clearance, those half-dead, crusty ones. I bring them home and watch them flourish. I like to think that’s what God’s done for me.
