Please ask me how I'm doing each day

Agreed. You need to be evaluating why you do everything. You know when it is pushing you toward relapse. If the material is edgy, you’re flirting with disaster.

Do you have a male accountability partner? A guy you trust, who cares enough about you to get in your face when you need it?

Although I don’t share your addiction, I have had an accountability partner for years. We talk at least once a week. He will get in my face and point out where I might be starting to stray, or get lax in my thinking.

Also, a great series/resource is Andy Stanley’s Guard Rails. I have found this helpful in many areas of my life.

No I don’t really… I used to sort of, when I was going to groups in a couple other places I’ve lived. but I haven’t been able to find any groups here in Montana where I live. And I’d almost always have to go to them and tell them “I think I’m slipping”. and they’d listen and they were very helpful and I hope I find another group. But no I haven’t had someone get in my face and keep coming back when I need a reminder down the road.
My brothers and I have tried to help each other through this problem. But we don’t keep up with each other enough in normal day life, so we definitely don’t talk to each other enough about this problem.
So yeah any help in that area, would be greatly appreciated.

And I’ll check that material out. Thanks

I’m glad you’re on to day 2, Michael. That’s great.

Some of us here have had some good success with getting blocks and monitoring apps on our devices. Covenant Eyes has been a good investment for me.

To tell you the truth, if I had access to an unfiltered or unmonitored device, I wouldn’t last very long.

Yeah I’ve wondered about an app like that, but then I just figured I’d delete the app or be like “challenge excepted” and see what all the app doesn’t block. Does the app you’ve got have any sort of feature that allows someone else to lock it on my phone so I can’t delete it?

Anyways it’s the start of day three, and I had a good talk with my wife about it all again. So things are still looking up🙂 thanks everyone for being here

It’s not so easy to uninstall. In order for me to uninstall Covenant Eyes, I have to call the company to give me a special uninstall code.

Once I do that, all of my 6 allies will get an email.

Plus, Covenant Eyes also provides filtering if you choose to use it. You can even pass the controls of the filter to an ally so that you can’t easily turn it off.

How much is it?

$15.99 per month.

First month is free.

Ok. I couldn’t find that one, but I did find a different one called detoxify and it has a pin I had my wife set so I can’t delete it or change the settings. And if I do somehow crack the pin it will email her.

Hopefully this will help… I just hope I don’t go trying to figure out what all it doesn’t block.

Making my home safe from myself has been a work in progress. But it’s been a necessary one. All of the devices at my home are locked down and password protected. And my phone has 2 additional app blockers to keep me from accessing a web browser throughout the whole day.

If I wanted to act out, I’d have to do it outside the home or get a new device.

90% of the time, I’m in clarity. I want to choose a better life and stay sexually sober. It’s that 10% of the time that gets me in trouble.

I am a sex/love drug and alcohol addict and I find writing daily in my early sobriety really helped me. I started a ‘blog’ type post here and made posts to keep them all in one place wrote in a journal with my feelings. Anytime I wanted to use or had a good day. I wrote about it.

There is also a checking in daily thread that people use to keep their accountability. It seems to help with some people.

Continuing the discussion from Checking in daily to help maintain focus #6:

It looks cold! I bet Montana is beautiful though…

Spot on Mario! - the blame, shame and self-condemnation are so destructive.
There is a war on for our souls (brains, hearts, emotions - sanity) and I for one have fallen victim to self pity and despair for decades…
No longer.
No longer a victim, but a fighter that needs to increase self discipline and self belief: I can change and I am changing.
Thanks be to God who is able to save to the uttermost…

How’s day 5 going? Day 18 here and it’s starting off great!
I just read the devotional on HazeldenBettyFord.org today. I thought I’d share the bit I can really relate to.
“the adventure of building that kind of a life (sober life) is so much better than the merry-go-round of our old drinking life”

I liked the merry-go-round analogy. The get drunk, hangover, merry-go-round of life really sucks when u think about it.
Y’all have a great and sober day. We can do it!! And we’re all worth it!!!
:pray::heart:
