Running in Recovery in 2024

I haven’t ran  My body is fine but I’m having a hard time with getting out of bed and having motivation. I was getting out of bed at 5am every single day but now I’m having a difficult time with that because the last few weeks I have just been sleeping till I wake up. I didn’t realize how much it would mess with my internal clock.

Annual 5K turkey trot. Slower than normal but I took lots of walk breaks and could tell I haven’t been running recently. My breathing was rough.
Year 6 of doing a 5K on Thanksgiving

28* F, windy, cloudy, cold. Thanksgiving fun run. First cold weather run and it was tough!

Nice!! It was 30 here but lucky no wind so I didn’t have to break out the balaclava yet
I’m a fan of the cold weather running as long as there is no snow or crazy wind lol

Had a disappointing run, then after that an ok one. It is getting cold enough that my nose stings, which I don’t like. I have a face cover but then I feel claustrophobic.

So I go on a run walk for the first time in… ever… and 10 minutes in guess what I do? Trip and bust my ass :joy::rofl: I got up, didn’t even check if I was scrapped up, and kept going but it shows how clumsy I am! I was thinking “yeah I go this” then all of the sudden my face is connecting with the concrete lmao - anyway! Work out buddies - best stretches or work out move I can do to improve posture!?

It will feel good to get that looked at :innocent:

If you post on this running thread I bet there are a bunch of people who will have some tips - there’s an active community of runners and run/walk folks here:

Here are some tips and tricks

Last time I tripped I realized I wasn’t picking up my feet enough and I wasn’t paying enough attention to my surroundings. I tripped over a massive break in the sidewalk. Had a gnarly scrapped knee and a ruined pair of leggings.

Running is a struggle lately. After that last flu my endurance is so low… I hope I will get over it soon.

Stats doesn’t look bad but boy oh boy, my body doesn’t feel how it was before :frowning:

Run/walk situation

Well, my calf/knee/hamstring situation seems to not be healing as fast as I would like. I get to about two miles and it just gives out. Friday was the last time I ran. So, I decided to quit testing it and rest up until the half marathon on Saturday. This will be interesting. Smart? Not at all. But, hey, that’s how I roll.

In the hotel. Massaging my leg

Hope to do a pace about 3 minutes/mile slower than I normally do a half marathon in. The goal is to finish under the time limit so I get the medal and extend the streak. Oh, and also to not mess myself up too bad!

Thanks! That’s the plan. Gonna have to fight the ego a bit on this. But, I’m actually looking forward to a nice, easy pace. I try for a PR every time I do a race so I’m going to enjoy not having that stress. Looks like it will be pushing 60 tomorrow, so that’s nice. I’m grateful to be able to do these things. And hey, another weekend of not drinking!

It took the whole first workout for me to get warm :cold_face: Had to break out fleece, gloves, long sleeve and vest. 33F but with winds to make feel like 19F. I had a great time though :woman_shrugging:t2:
