Well done on your 3 days, Sarath! :muscle:t2: Your own check-in thread might be a great idea, if it supports your sobriety! Are you applying any of the suggestions you have been receiving in the past weeks to make things different this time?
Keep hanging in there!

Yes. I’m attending AA online meeting daily one or two.

Good job on your 3th day. I will cheer you on! Stay on top of it and keep going :muscle:t3:
I started reading a book yesterday that’s been named on this forum quite often: this naked mind. I find it very interesting and gives insight into how alcohol is integrated into our lives and what it does in your brain. Maybe check it out and try to read it as well??

Really great that you started your own thread, Sarath! And 3 days is amazing! Just keep on checking in in here and attending your daily online meetings. And if it’s possible, don’t hang around with your friends who drinks. Just focus on your own sobriety journey. I believe in you, bro, you can do this! God bless!

Thanks David. yes for sure. I want to put more efforts on my sobriety. I want to avoid peoples and places which urges me to drink.

I’m thinking to consult a Psycahtrist tomorrow, Regarding my cravings is that will help ? If i could get some medicines to reduce cravings and reduce rewarding.

What you think?, Anyone here have any idea about it ?.

Hey Sarath , good to see you back and taking some more serious steps this time. Keep checking in and please this time before you choose to go drink again maybe try to reach out here first. You can do this but you need to use the tools and support provided to you .

Just want to echo what everyone else has been saying. Having your own check in thread is very wise. It’s what finally helped me start staying sober.

I think it’s awesome to reach out to a professional for some help, whether it’s a psychiatrist or doctor or rehab center.

You don’t have to do this alone!! You CAN’T do this alone!! None of us can do this alone.

I’m looking forward to reading your journey. Keep checking in every day, multiple times a day if you need to. Love and light to you, brother. :sparkling_heart::candle:

There are medicines to reduce cravings, Naltrexone is the US brand name, and medicines that will cause instant violent withdrawal if you drink on them, Antabuse is the US brand name.

Both of these, in my experience with Antabuse and in the pharmaceutical research on Naltrexone, are aids to a program of sobriety. They are not substitutes for the “personality change sufficient to overcome alcoholism” (quoted from the book Alcoholics Anonymous). They are not substitutes for the work, they are not magic bullets.

For me, Antabuse helped me feel confident each morning that I took my dose that I would get to the end of the day sober. I did not pair it with working a program of recovery, and for that reason, wound up relapsing. The last time I was on it, thankfully I began to have side effects of vertigo - I had to stop taking it and the panic that I felt at having my security blanket pulled away forced me back into AA with the willingness to do what was suggested. I’m not saying AA is the only way to sobriety, for sure. I am saying that chemical solutions will work long enough for you to find a program that does work.

To get sober, we must change our attitudes and thoughts, our feelings, and our actions. That can take many forms, but the common denominator for everyone who has gotten sober is that they used help outside their own head, and they made changes to thoughts and actions.

Good to see you have your own check in thread to share your thoughts in. Hope you will try more to add to your new sober lifestyle. Make your own sober plan that keeps you sober. You got many tips during your time around here, try stuff! Use the ones that work and move forward. You can do this Sarath :facepunch:
