The Dragon's lair

Well it’s been a while. Wow hadn’t realised I have not posted for this long.
So a quick update, things are going well with work and my new relationship. I facilitate 2 recovery groups now and have one to one coaching with clients specifically women who have found themselves in court and risking losing their children. I am also a supervisor at a recovery cafe. Life is actually very OK right now.
As for my relationship that’s going well, we’re still not living together after 9 mths in which is great as we agreed to not move in together before the 12mth mark.
Now at 17mths sober I have been able to attend events with people drinking and be fine around it I’ve also had the opportunity to host dinner parties at home and allow the guests to bring their own drinks and have them in my home. This is massive.
What’s next :thinking: I’ve already signed up for a challenge hiking 10 peaks in the lake district UK raising money for charity and hope to get in 2 more challenges this year

Happy new year Michelle.
So great to see you, it’s always great to see you.
So happy that things are going great.
I’m gonna have to come down the recovery cafe at some point.
Considering we are almost neighbors.:rofl::rofl:

Well and truly neglecting my feed here wow, so to pick up where I left off in January. So on February 29th I proposed to my partner and we are now engaged. Then in March on the 23rd to be exact the UK went into lockdown. My job switched rather drastically and I ended up head chefing again, which is something I’d been avoiding through my entire recovery because its a high stress job and the last one I had in active addiction. This time it’s was for the greater good, sending meals out to the homeless with funding from the diocese. In May my partner moved in with me. We were dead set on not living together for the first year of our relationship and we went to 13 months. In June I was furlough with work as the project for feeding the vulnerable had come to an end and the economy was starting back up. I’ve been working from home with my voluntary work recovery coaching and taking zoom meetings to help people in recovery from addition. I love doing this as it helps me to stay connected and busy. In July I completed a 10 peak challenge in coledale, the lake district raising £346.50 for a small charity called increase the peace who educate young teenagers on the dangers of gangs and knife crime.
I’ve recently started a new college course on health and nutrition at a level 2 an look to complete this by the new year. My partner is a addiction housing project worker where he works in a dry house and wet house, he’s also in college studying level 2 counselling skills and level 3 counselling studies, along with nearly completing his level 2 in reiki. My children are doing well and stayed in school the entire lockdown because I was classed as a key worker.

Oooo time for an update I think. Well I’ve had hard times through lockdown with my own mental health, crying and stinking thinking that I’m not mentally strong enough to deal with situations that have arisen.
So since September I was made redundant due to the pandemic at the end of October. The beginning of December I started a new job as a housing support worker, working in a dry house and wet house. My ex suddenly reappeared after months of dissapearing and started causing problems again. This coinsided with starting divorce proceedings and I had to phone the police on him and his mum twice over Christmas and new year. My recovery and spiritual journey took a back seat and well, I felt it as I was taking everyone else’s problems in recovery and not concentrating on my and ran on empty. It is sad that now I can’t walk anywhere and have to drive the shortest of distances for my own safety. I had a call from my manager with the offer of promotion to manage my own areas in Gloucestershire UK, specifically Cheltenham and Tewkesbury where I will be responsible for community projects and running groups and training new coaches. This is a huge opportunity and have an interview Tuesday coming with the pretty much garenteed offer.
Despite the hard times through the pandemic I have had to reflect on the good and things that I have still managed to achieve. I have helped feed the homeless and those in need, I have done a charity walk and raised money for a great cause, I have found a new job in a month and enjoy what I do and offered a promotion 2 months after starting. I have completed my level 2 in health and nutrition doing it all online. I got through Christmas and my children have all they need, I’m filling divorce proceedings, I’ve had my 1st vaccine for covid and 2nd soon to follow. Life really is good.

Well more updates. So I got the job as network recovery coach, I’ve come such a long way through recovery myself, at 2.5yrs sober I’m now in the highest paid job I have ever had in my entire life, and it’s taken 20 months volunteering to get me to a paid role, not bad going seen as I was only in a paid role for 2 months before this promotion.
Further news I now have an injunction order against my ex so he can not come near me or the children’s school.
