Is it for hiking/camping? I looked at them. What I read suggested for any given weight and size a battery bank was much more useful and reliable. In the best case the solars give only a trickle of energy.
I carry a 6700 mAh bank if gone more than a day. With the phone in airplane mode and only spot checking GPS, even that’s more than I need for a few days.
Just recently bought that. I think @Eke has one similar.
Works a treat. I’ve only used it once so far but was happy with it.
In container it’s about 3x2x1 inches. Packs really small
The best thing I can say about it is it’s small and burns fuel, lol. It’s not a star performer by any means. @anon12657779’s looks like it might do better in wind.
I’m also looking into getting a 1 person trekking pole tent. I really like my hammock, but its a rather large bundle, nad heavy (hammock, net, rain fly, straps, underquilt).
I found one that looks promising, but its from an unknown name/website…
Oh, I like this design! REI actually has a good one, and Six Moon Designs a couple, too. I was thinking about a simple single-wall tent for summer backpacking though I like a light, semi-freestanding tent as kind of being very flexible (my Nemo Hornet 2P).
Do you always have a good place to stake out a trekking pole tent?
Eh, gear’s gotten pretty light. I’m around 12 lbs base too and have a cozy setup, pillow and all. Just leaves some room to bring a Kindle and stuff if I like. But also I don’t go anywhere needing climbing or winter gear, etc. Yet.
I think “ultralight” is actually 5-10 lbs now, which… just sounds like bad news to me.
And yeah, not a good year for it here either because of fires and plagues and locusts. Literally. Oof.
Damn, cali got it bad too! I’ve done some bike packing trips around 15 lbs… But tarps, mini bag, and fire gear… But only stoves now. Still, I’m impressed by your weight!!! You sawing handles of toothbrushes and shit? My hardcore friends do all that crazy stuff
