I started googling peri menapause lol trying to find reasons for my tummy bloat Iāve come to the conclusion that its just because ive turned 41, my metabolism has changed and ive never worked out properly before this past month. So I hoping with me eating mainly clean and doing cardio and Pilateās every other day, Iāll see change soon enough. I just need to push through the muscle pain in Pilateās. It is so much harder than Iād imagined. My muscles have literally never been trained before this , so there cramping up badly in class and its pain ive never experienced before. Luckily I have a great teacher who is patient with me also ive learnt that I need to stretch when ever I get the opportunity at home. The top of my thighs on the outside , I dont know know what muscle is but the burn is TORTURE lol I didnt even know that muscle exsited lol
Take a hot tubby too and stretch in there. Iām the same way, I donāt stretch enough.
Donāt have a tub we have a new bath house day spa that has just opened not far from me. Its not really expensive. Its funny you mentioned tub, because after I left class today I thought I might start going to the bath house a few times a week in the morning.
225 this morning and back on track I set this as my new years resolution last year when I was a high functioning drunk pile of mess I became a fire fighter last year and things didnāt work out I knew I needed to quit my drinking so I walked away from the position about 6 months in. I was working out 6 days a week doing hour long cardio sessions, cause everything in my life becomes an extreme and I push myself but I was not losing weight and then covid hit and the gym shut down so I knew revamping how I eat thats all I gotta worry about well I gained like 20 lbs again eating like crap. Discipline ladies and gents, be hard on yourself, because in your world, youāre the reason you gave up the booze, the drugs , the urges you did it, you can do this. And if youāre unsure about your diet talk with a nutritionist to get you on the right track anything is possible when you believe in yourself
LOVE THIS!! You are SO right. I couldnāt agree with you more!
Is that your home gym ??
Actually I just seen the fluro exit sign lol so I dont think you would have that in your home lol OK cool ! How long have you done reformer for ? And do you notice the difference If you go regularly?
Lol, youāre funny! āExit this way, folks!ā from my visitors!
I absolutely notice a difference, itās been really awesome for me. It just fits with me as far as itās gentle and I can do something different on it all the time so I like itā¦easy on this old body too. Itās core/centric which I need too.
Thats what I think I like about it as well. So far with all the classes ive been to this week, there hasnāt been a postion/move repeated. I liked that because it gets my brain focusing on things I havnt done before. But I donāt know about gentle yet for me lol you would laugh so hard if you seen me in the class, Iām puffing and panting and wobbly all over the place loosing my balance trying to plank and plunge and squat lol I take the bed in the far back corner so no one can see me all a hot mess while Iām still learning lol
Sunday weekly weigh in : 70.2kg.
So Iām down from my last weigh in. Not much but itās something lol. Iām looking forward to weighing in next Sunday, because it will be a full week of Pilateās classes by then so I want to see if a week makes a difference to my weigh in.
This week ahead I will be permanently cutting out dairy, bread and starchy carbs. I will do a full week of that and Pilateās every day and come Sunday I will do a mirror check and weigh in and see how Iām feeling. Iām feeling more confident I can stick to my plan now.
Since Iām slowly gaining a little here and there with all the great restaurants around Iām canceling my membership to the Clean Your Plate Club. Effective immediately.
Iāve always been a clean your plate
type of an eater
Today, and as a matter of fact the other day, I took home half of my chicken and will have it for lunch the next day.
I do not have to clean my plate.
Finally did some weights today
Iām so tried though I had a 14 hours shift at work yesterday but I woke up and got it done. Iām hoping my energy will catch up as time goes on.
Iāve decided that for now Iāll do weights on a sunday and Wednesday, so only two days a week but still a full body workout 45-60 minutes. Certainly better than doing nothing.
Iāve decided on that plan for now as its fits in easily and as I donāt tend to work on mondays or Thursdays, it means I can rest the day after as I expect to be very sore/stiff! And of course Iāll still keep up with the hour longs walks 3x per week.
Iāve taken some pictures so I can look back on those for progress, I know itāll be a slow one but Iām excited for this new part of the journey.
Iām all shakey right now but Iām gonna get dressed then head out for a walk and some fresh air and sunshine (whilst it lastsā¦) then gonna go shopping after that to get all the nice healthy food I need for the week.
Its crazy how sore I am after a week of a few pilates classes. Iām told I need to strech more and it will help
Well I made sure I did some stretches and a little yoga afterwardsā¦ but I know from personal experience that Iāll be walking like a penguin by tomorrow regardless
Itās Motherās Day and Sunday so that means it is weigh in day for me. So down another whole pound to 118.4 lbs!!! YAY! Happy Motherās Day to me!! Not a huge loss week, but thats ok. I hit it hard earlier in the week (Mon - Thu) and then have lightened it up on Fri & Sat since I got my 2nd Covid shot on Thu which ended up going quite well in my opinion, Iām happy to report. Friday I felt sorta kinda shitty but not overly so. Mainly my skin just felt sore or achy and just tired and off. I still worked out for 60 mins doing a 20 min walk, 20 easy ride, and 20 mins of core and after that I was spent and wondered if I should have attempted to do what I did, LOL. Then yesterday we have just been so busy so I kept it to just an hour (instead of 1.5 or 2 hours) with a 30 min ride, 20 min hike and 10 min core. I felt pretty normal from the vaccine but figured that Iād take it a bit shorter than usual just to err on the side of caution.
So, now Iāve set my new goal weight at 110 lbs tentatively. Iām currently weighing at 118.4 lbs. I started at 151.8 lbs 23 weeks ago and have lost an overall of 33.4 lbs in just over 5 months (as of April 29th!)
This next week Iāve set forth a goal of repainting our dining room and kitchen (2 different colors) to round out out main living space. I painted them back in 2016 when we got our kitchen redone, but Im going to lighten up the colors in both rooms. Right now the Light Reflective Value in those 2 rooms are 19 and 21 which is VERY dark. Since I redid the living room 2 weeks ago Iāve been bitten by the bug and just want to freshen up the rest. I have a LOT of work ahead of me as Iāll need to prime the walls in both those rooms so the lighter shades will cover easier and better. So Iām not sure how my workouts will all pan out this week.
What Iām trying to do is adjust my attitude and not be a slave so to speak to the exercising now. I love it, but because Iām getting closer to my goal I want to balance out living more and getting more things done than just working out all the time. I love my Peloton equipment and it has helped me dramatically in achieving my goals without it I wouldnāt have been as committed. But of course the stopping drinking part of the equation has been the most profound, most notable and best decision Iāve ever made for myself and my health and happiness.
HAPPY MOTHERāS DAY to all my SISās!! Enjoy your special day!!
Happy Mothers Day Deb
Congratulations on your weight loss. It never seems like a pound is much but itās HUGE! Great job Sounds like you got a real good plan in the makings.
Iām glad you didnāt get too sick after the second shot.
Have a wonderful day
You can always start doing super sets you can get more done in a shorter amount of time some people do focus on training for hours and you donāt need to do that to build muscle its actually more likely to cause an injury. I tell this to anyone starting out, one day is better than zero even if you did it 3 times a week thats much more than zero! I would recommend trying to do like 40-50% of your max capacity for the first week so you donāt get too many DOMS (delayed onset muscle syndrome) cause I want you to be able to function and be able to bend your knees without dying than gradually increase. Your body will adapt to it gradually
