Weightloss CHECK IN : dont give up (Part 1)

I started googling peri menapause lol :joy: trying to find reasons for my tummy bloat :joy: Iā€™ve come to the conclusion that its just because ive turned 41, my metabolism has changed and ive never worked out properly before this past month. So I hoping with me eating mainly clean and doing cardio and Pilateā€™s every other day, Iā€™ll see change soon enough. I just need to push through the muscle pain in Pilateā€™s. It is so much harder than Iā€™d imagined. My muscles have literally never been trained before this , so there cramping up badly in class and its pain ive never experienced before. Luckily I have a great teacher who is patient with me :joy: also ive learnt that I need to stretch when ever I get the opportunity at home. The top of my thighs on the outside , I dont know know what muscle is but the burn is TORTURE lol :joy: I didnt even know that muscle exsited lol :joy:

Donā€™t have a tub :grimacing: we have a new bath house day spa that has just opened not far from me. Its not really expensive. Its funny you mentioned tub, because after I left class today I thought I might start going to the bath house a few times a week in the morning.

225 this morning and back on track I set this as my new years resolution last year when I was a high functioning drunk pile of mess  I became a fire fighter last year and things didnā€™t work out I knew I needed to quit my drinking so I walked away from the position about 6 months in. I was working out 6 days a week doing hour long cardio sessions, cause everything in my life becomes an extreme and I push myself but I was not losing weight and then covid hit and the gym shut down so I knew revamping how I eat thats all I gotta worry about well I gained like 20 lbs again eating like crap. Discipline ladies and gents, be hard on yourself, because in your world, youā€™re the reason you gave up the booze, the drugs , the urges you did it, you can do this. And if youā€™re unsure about your diet talk with a nutritionist to get you on the right track :slightly_smiling_face: anything is possible when you believe in yourself

Is that your home gym ??

Actually I just seen the fluro exit sign lol so I dont think you would have that in your home lol :joy: OK cool ! How long have you done reformer for ? And do you notice the difference If you go regularly?

Lol, youā€™re funny! ā€œExit this way, folks!ā€ from my visitors!
I absolutely notice a difference, itā€™s been really awesome for me. It just fits with me as far as itā€™s gentle and I can do something different on it all the time so I like itā€¦easy on this old body too. Itā€™s core/centric which I need too.

Thats what I think I like about it as well. So far with all the classes ive been to this week, there hasnā€™t been a postion/move repeated. I liked that because it gets my brain focusing on things I havnt done before. But I donā€™t know about gentle yet for me lol :joy: you would laugh so hard if you seen me in the class, Iā€™m puffing and panting and wobbly all over the place loosing my balance trying to plank and plunge and squat lol :joy: I take the bed in the far back corner so no one can see me all a hot mess while Iā€™m still learning lol :joy:

Sunday weekly weigh in : 70.2kg.

So Iā€™m down from my last weigh in. Not much but itā€™s something lol. Iā€™m looking forward to weighing in next Sunday, because it will be a full week of Pilateā€™s classes by then so I want to see if a week makes a difference to my weigh in.

This week ahead I will be permanently cutting out dairy, bread and starchy carbs. I will do a full week of that and Pilateā€™s every day and come Sunday I will do a mirror check and weigh in and see how Iā€™m feeling. Iā€™m feeling more confident I can stick to my plan now.

Since Iā€™m slowly gaining a little here and there with all the great restaurants around Iā€™m canceling my membership to the Clean Your Plate Club. Effective immediately.
Iā€™ve always been a clean your plate
type of an eater :grimacing:
Today, and as a matter of fact the other day, I took home half of my chicken and will have it for lunch the next day.
I do not have to clean my plate.
:pray:t2::heart:

Finally did some weights today :muscle:
Iā€™m so tried though :weary::laughing: I had a 14 hours shift at work yesterday but I woke up and got it done. Iā€™m hoping my energy will catch up as time goes on.
Iā€™ve decided that for now Iā€™ll do weights on a sunday and Wednesday, so only two days a week but still a full body workout 45-60 minutes. Certainly better than doing nothing.
Iā€™ve decided on that plan for now as its fits in easily and as I donā€™t tend to work on mondays or Thursdays, it means I can rest the day after as I expect to be very sore/stiff! And of course Iā€™ll still keep up with the hour longs walks 3x per week.

Iā€™ve taken some pictures so I can look back on those for progress, I know itā€™ll be a slow one but Iā€™m excited for this new part of the journey.

Iā€™m all shakey right now but Iā€™m gonna get dressed then head out for a walk and some fresh air and sunshine (whilst it lastsā€¦) then gonna go shopping after that to get all the nice healthy food I need for the week.

Itā€™s Motherā€™s Day and Sunday so that means it is weigh in day for me. So down another whole pound to 118.4 lbs!!! YAY! Happy Motherā€™s Day to me!! Not a huge loss week, but thats ok. I hit it hard earlier in the week (Mon - Thu) and then have lightened it up on Fri & Sat since I got my 2nd Covid shot on Thu which ended up going quite well in my opinion, Iā€™m happy to report. Friday I felt sorta kinda shitty but not overly so. Mainly my skin just felt sore or achy and just tired and off. I still worked out for 60 mins doing a 20 min walk, 20 easy ride, and 20 mins of core and after that I was spent and wondered if I should have attempted to do what I did, LOL. Then yesterday we have just been so busy so I kept it to just an hour (instead of 1.5 or 2 hours) with a 30 min ride, 20 min hike and 10 min core. I felt pretty normal from the vaccine but figured that Iā€™d take it a bit shorter than usual just to err on the side of caution.

So, now Iā€™ve set my new goal weight at 110 lbs tentatively. Iā€™m currently weighing at 118.4 lbs. I started at 151.8 lbs 23 weeks ago and have lost an overall of 33.4 lbs in just over 5 months (as of April 29th!)

This next week Iā€™ve set forth a goal of repainting our dining room and kitchen (2 different colors) to round out out main living space. I painted them back in 2016 when we got our kitchen redone, but Im going to lighten up the colors in both rooms. Right now the Light Reflective Value in those 2 rooms are 19 and 21 which is VERY dark. Since I redid the living room 2 weeks ago Iā€™ve been bitten by the bug and just want to freshen up the rest. I have a LOT of work ahead of me as Iā€™ll need to prime the walls in both those rooms so the lighter shades will cover easier and better. So Iā€™m not sure how my workouts will all pan out this week.

What Iā€™m trying to do is adjust my attitude and not be a slave so to speak to the exercising now. I love it, but because Iā€™m getting closer to my goal I want to balance out living more and getting more things done than just working out all the time. I love my Peloton equipment and it has helped me dramatically in achieving my goals without it I wouldnā€™t have been as committed. But of course the stopping drinking part of the equation has been the most profound, most notable and best decision Iā€™ve ever made for myself and my health and happiness.

HAPPY MOTHERā€™S DAY to all my SISā€™s!! Enjoy your special day!!

You can always start doing super sets you can get more done in a shorter amount of time :slightly_smiling_face: some people do focus on training for hours and you donā€™t need to do that to build muscle its actually more likely to cause an injury. I tell this to anyone starting out, one day is better than zero even if you did it 3 times a week thats much more than zero! I would recommend trying to do like 40-50% of your max capacity for the first week so you donā€™t get too many DOMS (delayed onset muscle syndrome) cause I want you to be able to function and be able to bend your knees without dying  than gradually increase. Your body will adapt to it gradually :slightly_smiling_face:
