Where my cat people? #2

Hi, Rita is deaf :cat:
I kept my eyes on her, as she seemed as though she could hear but I noticed she was taking visual cues from the other cats. The vets also said yes she is deafā€¦ I started to notice when she just want getting to know her name, and that she felt the wind when opening the back door it wasnā€™t actually the noise of it opening.
She is so cute as the loud noise she makes for how little she is, Iā€™m so glad she is apart of my family as the other cats really take care of her and each other and Iv researched is better for them to have other pets living with.
She is so good, she wonā€™t be able to go out like my other cats so Iā€™m going to build a nice cat run enclosure so she can still enjoy the outdoors with me when Iā€™m BBQ and reading in the summer.
I wanted to say thankyou to you for bringing it to my attention as I thought it and had my doubts but i thought she could hear, and you helped me keep alert to this fact.
:hugs::hugs: She is so happy and Iā€™m so glad I get to take care of her. She was sleeping under my bed which made me notice more too and the fact she tried to Jump on the hoover instead of run away from it but the past week+ she sleeps on the sofa in the day and on my bed at night with the rest of the pets so I feel confident she feels safe.

I hope your doing okay :purple_heart:

I wish i could give you a squeezy hug :hugs::purple_heart:
I understand you feel a deep sadness and thats okay, its ok to wait until your ready :hugs:
Losing our pets is losing family it is big xx and it takes time to heal and its good to share this if it helps you :purple_heart::purple_heart::pray:

Iā€™m glad Rita has found you as her staff :heavy_heart_exclamation:
You are taking good care of her and protecting her for the danger of being outside and not hearing a car ore so coming up.
Iā€™m good enough. Still in tears when I talk about the loss of my buddy. It takes time and thatā€™s ok like you said. It has to heal, I have to heal. I do not know if there will be place for another cat. Weā€™ll see.

Happy to be of help to you

Got home from work today and Luna gave me a big scare, being all wobbly and weak on her feet all of a sudden. After calling my own vet (close before they closed shop) and the emergency pet clinic after, and seeing Luna improve a bit, walking as well as eating, decided to wait for a regular vet appointment tomorrow. My poor baby :two_hearts: :cat:

I wasnā€™t a cat person to begin with but I married into a house with 3! This one is my sneaky little buddy. We have 3 cats and 1 big dog lol. This little guy follows me when I walk in the door like heā€™s a dog everyday :joy:

Iā€™m on vacation and miss my cats who snuggle me every day, my late mum and my ex who I used to call every evening. Of mum and ex I have to let go but with cats I can help myself with tons of pictures :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::orange_heart:

Big hugs for you and Luna, Menno. So hard when our fur babies are ailing. Give her a big hug and lots of pets and get well energy and vibes from here. Hope tomorrow will be a better day.

Luna update after visit to the vet: no vestibular disease as the triagist at the emergency pet clinic thought (I misheard vascular last night). No potassium deficiency as dr. Google had me think.

Instead my vet diagnosed a middle ear infection in both Lunaā€™s ears. Not that advanced yet. Should be treatable with 4 weeks of antibiotics and painkillers. How to make Luna ingest those will be an interesting challenge but itā€™s a lot better news than I feared. Thanks for all the good vibes friends! :two_hearts: :slightly_smiling_face: :heart_eyes_cat:

Thatā€™s such great news! :confetti_ball::confetti_ball::confetti_ball:
What worked for my cat was put his medicines in a piece of cheese. First piece was without medicine the second one was with.
Hope you will find a way to trick Luna taking her pills :crossed_fingers:

Excellent news, I hope she gets back to normal real soon.

Our vets sell a bit of kit to give cats pills, it looks like a syringe, not tried it out, but, it appears to work from the people Iā€™ve talked to that have tried it.
The overwhelming comment was ā€œit takes practiceā€.

Poor Luna but good it is treatable
For my cats meat paste did the trick. And there is a technique to just put the pill into the mouth, hold it closed and the cat swallows the pill. It takes practice, if you donā€™t shovel it deep enough into the mouth, they spit it out  My vet showed it to me several times and I was getting along with it quite ok. Of course with lots if pets afterwards for the good (or nasty biting and scratching) kitty

Glad Luna is doing better! Ear infection totally makes sense for why her balance was off. For pilling my cats, I put them on their back, open mouth with one hand and insert pill with other hand. Itā€™s not very elegant but it works. :smiley_cat:

This is the first time heā€™s done this. Iā€™ve had him almost 3 years.
