. It’ll take some time I’m sure. My sisters older cat took a month or so to come around. It helped the the younger one was constantly trying to play lol
Hopefully, Bebe loves to play, I actually thought she would love the company
Its actually really bad here, Bebe is so stressed, hissing all the time… Teddy seems relaxed and wants to interact but she is not giving him a chance
Its been 12 hours now
Teddy is only 12 weeks old, they usually accept kittens easily, Bebe is 5 years old and indoors only so didn’t have a chance to interact with cats since I took her when she was 10 weeks
Oh man I’m sorry. It will take some time to adjust. I wonder if you can post on the cat thread for possible help on how to integrate the two.
I’ll ask my sis if she has some tips. Wishing you luck
This is what my sis did…
I had them feed on opposite sides of a closed door so they could smell each other but eat. Over time I had them feed in same room. Over time the bowls got closer
I have no experience with cats, it must be so worrying for you. But remember - a drink will solve nothing of this problem and will only make it so much worse. You can believe it will turn out well, it will just take some time.
It hasn’t even been a full day yet. Cats are particular creatures when sonething/one new is added to their environment. I know that if I was hanging out with my mom and then suddenly there was this strange baby in our house who was going to stay forever, I would also be like WTF for the first little while.
Everything in its time. Things will ultimately work out one way or another
Thank you Dan xxx I know but thank God with 2 of them there is no chance for even thinking about a drink! They need constant attention Its like having 2 babies LOL I didn’t even brush my teeth yesterday… My daughter is coming tomorrow, she is great with animals.
Thank you Reese, lets hope for some breakthrough today
BTW Reese… for some reason you seem to me like a cat person, I think you could be very good with a cat
That’s so funny you say because while I do love all animals, I’m allergic to cats and have always been a dog person lmao. It’s unfortunate because a cat would fit my lifestyle perfectly but sadly my lungs said no
They will adjust. Your older cat didn’t attack the kitten when you first brought home. So you are pretty safe there. It will stop hissing at it but it may take a week or two before it starts to accept it. Try not to worry too much about it.
Good luck on your surgery
It is so much better today, yesterday I was actually worried about Bebe, she was so ‘excited’ about her baby brother that refused to eat/drink, she didn’t even use toilet, just hissing and being upset. She is much better now, still a bit nervous and watching him but already eating etc I keep them separately as much as possible.
You should give them separate litter boxes for awhile and if you can keep them separate for awhile each day it will help.
See you doing the separate thing already. I promise your older one will adjust
Teddy is Teddy, happily exploring his new home
