That was not easy to internalize but was necessary for me to read – thank you for sharing and wishing you luck with your journey of allowing others to help you and not carry it all alone.

@lastry Fiona I totally agree that doing the same activity every evening (even if it something you enjoy) can get repetitive and boring – good to change it up. Gym is a great idea, do you like puzzles or gardening. Love that you found the training grounds – hope that you are able to book it and enjoy some time there.

Thank you for this Richard. So sweet of you to visit with your sister tonight. A big hug for the two of you. No shame in crying my friend – you are grieving and I am so sorry for that. I wish I could say or do something to make it easier but all I can do is give you virtual support and tell you that it does get easier. Do know that your mom is always with you in spirit in memory and in your heart. Wishing you love and comfort my friend.
@mrsodh YEAH to booking the hotel – I am so very excited for you and cant wait to read about it when you go (hopefully with some awesome pictures). So glad that you got your schedule sorted and can now enjoy the rest of your vacation without interruptions.

@amy30 totally understand the sense of being traumatized – it is not easy to get over (almost like a bond of trust has been broken). I do hope that you are able to heal from this experience (I know it took me some time to feel comfortable again). Hope the walk helped

Checking in on Thursday morning
So far so good - about to be noon and i feel great about having caught up on TS, baked a few batches of cookies and delivered to the restaurant, completed a few errands and now going to work on my selfcare – wow - love that i have enough energy to keep me going. I am a bit tired and struggling a tiny bit so will start with something easy (i really do want t a nap but will fight against this). No urges today and life is great in my air conditioned home. Hope everyone has a positively charged addiction free day… sending much love :heart: :heart:

Checking in. Productive day so far making good progress on projects with plenty of breaks to take care of myself today. Feeling vulnerable and heart heavy so I made sure to take Lupe on our longer walk through the woods and meadow behind our home. We don’t take that way every day though she wishes we did, so much so that she tries to lead me there, but I don’t always have time or heat tolerance. It was a beautiful walk, beautiful morning. We startled a young buck in the woods and he went crash bang running away from us, exciting. My favorite part is exiting the woods, turning the corner and walking up a deer trail with a steady incline into the meadow with forest on either side of us until we crest the hill and it opens up wide to a different kind of beauty. Today as we were approaching the crest I heard a hawk screech and sure enough a big beauty of a red tailed hawk swooped low across the trail in front of us. Monarch butterflies were everywhere, and plenty of other critters and birds. The purple martins twittering away making their cute sounds were all around. I felt like I could breathe easier and my heart felt lighter.

When things feel overwhelming or chaotic, and life and world events are heavy, I must remember to center myself however I can in the moment. I haven’t done so well in that arena in the last few months or so, or it’s been ups and downs with a feeling like I’m not putting work in to care for myself well. Today was an important reminder to be intentional about finding that center and balance, the peace within me that I know I can find if I work on it. Now that I have easy access to nature, there is really no excuse! It’s my favorite way to find that peace.

Make sure to seek your own ways to find your inner peace, even within the storm. Sending well wishes, amigx. :heartpulse:

30 psi Sounds like little air to me. I guess it’s some big old tyres friend. I inflate the tyres on my road bike to about 100 psi. But those are very narrow.

So far this morning has been busy with phone calls. Currently trying to get thru to the Vision Clinic at the Childrens Hospital so that my son can be seen by a opthamologist regarding his eye issues. His pediatrician wanrs to rule out an actual eye issue before referring him on to neurology. She threw out another idea that maybe his eye issues are nerve related and could be the cause of his brainstem tumor. And im sort of freaking out a bit bcuz that could mean his tumor is beginning to grow again. But im trying not to go there bcuz we have to rule out other things first.

Plans for the day are to go grocery shopping and do some cleaning. Will also work on my DBT book and do my prayer. Thats about it. Hope everyone has a great day! :butterfly:

Yeah they are 26x 4.0 fat tires. Idk I put the 30 psi in and they just seemed crazy hard lol but so far they are fine. And wow that’s crazy 100 psi in those little skinny bike tires

@JazzyS I have challenged myself to colour from cover to cover, so I am doing it page by page, but as you will read in my check-in, there is a problem with using the Sharpies and I’m a little upset because it was so much easier and less of a strain on my hand, now I’m not sure how to proceed. The R.I.C.E treatment is working for my Achilles. It’s not so painful to move around my flat now, I can walk somewhat “normally”. It was very hard to resist going out for an actual walk today, but I don’t want to undo all the healing. If it’s even better by tomorrow, I will do my short walk to the pond and back, with a rest break at the pond. I’m excited by the prospect.

I didn’t sleep at all last night, so I am very tired. I’ve done my morning routine, meditations, read a chapter of a new book, and I found my Sharpies and did 44mins of colouring, whilst listening to ‘Quit Like a Woman’ audiobook, the only issue is, the Sharpie ink goes right through the paper so the pattern I’ve just spent a long time completing, is now ruined! :man_facepalming:t2::upside_down_face:

Hoping for an early night tonight. :sleeping: :crossed_fingers:t2:

Have been busy back in the UK. Visiting places with the kids and talking with my sister. Also am relying on free wifi so am not online much. It is still August 10th here, but my tracker must be on Japan time because…


There it is. Happy, but not as elated as I was in previous years. I am just a non-drinker. The drinking is in the past. Now I need to focus on building the life that I got sober for. One where I feel happy and supported and fulfilled. Not always or perfectly, but mostly, with baby steps.

I am so sorry for all of the worry you are going through. I spent about a week in hospital with my son supposedly having a brain tumour. We were very lucky as they scanned him with a more sophisticated machine before doing the operation and identified he had a stroke rather than a tumour (the shadow on the brain had confused the Doctors initially). We felt so lucky then as they were able to wean off the steroids, no surgery and we got to leave the oncology ward. I felt tremendous survivor’s guilt from then on. I cannot imagine living that life as you do. I got a glimpse and it was so hard. I hope they are able to put your mind at rest soon.

Hope you don’t mind me sharing that. I wanted to show empathy but fear I may just have waffled on.

Massive congratulations @Misokatsu I love the idea of just being a non-drinker. I am the same with smoking but can’t imagine that with alcohol.

@RosaCanDo I absolutely love your nature descriptions and photo. We have been at a theme park for 2 days and I am loving decompressing now outside our camping pod. I am hoping for a walk and castle tomorrow, nature bathing.
