Thank you @brittb12
I’m fucking proud
And how do you feel today? It’s a great feeling isn’t it!
Well done E!
I’ve tried tons of times to quit the beer, did 30 day’s once but it’s normally just a few days!
This is the first time I’ve used a forum like this, I was nervous as hell, considering I’m anonymous that’s strange right?
Anyway, so far it’s been great to connect with like minded people, I hope it works for you too.
Welcome. I am glad you are here with us, and hope you will stay, share, learn, and grow, as we do the same.
I’ve been a member of this forum for 901 days. Every day I read a little, and some days a lot. Every day I give out a few likes, or maybe comment on a few posts.
I also happen to have 901 days of sobriety. I think daily interaction here just might have contributed to this. Why? Because I have come to know many beautiful souls here. They’ve shared their journeys with me, and I have shared mine with them.
The most beautiful thing I’ve seen has been no matter what time of day or night, someone is on here to tell you “you aren’t alone”.
You’ve decided to be better. Now be better. Say “no” to the drink that matters…the first drink. If you do, there can’t be a second or third or eighth.
Welcome to the forum, Elo. There is a wide variety of experience in getting and staying sober here. All kinds of folks get sober and you can, too!
Here’s a thread full of ideas for you to try.
Resources for our recovery
Hi @ELO and welcome I can’t even begin to tell you how much these words and @Yoda-Stevie have helped me progress along this sober journey. Each time, in the last 326 days, there’s been even a slight thought of having “a” drink, I know that I need and will say NO to that drink, because that is the drink that matters. That’s the drink that will potentially destroy everything. I know that, for today, I choose to be sober and that makes me feel proud. Sober life really is equal to our best life stay with us, and unleash all the glory and power you hold within, one day at a time
Welcome! I’m with @Mephistopheles, you just got honest with all of us. Curious, how does it feel to let that go?
This forum led me to giving AA a try. I also was reluctant for so long about accepting I had a problem, and although it was hard, the moment I openly surrendered to the help of others there was such a wash of relief. It was like adding their strength to what little I had left, and profound.
There’s lots of private, anonymous ways to get help like that where you don’t have to bring your own personal contacts into it. Recovery groups and programs. This forum, of course!
In any case, you do not have to go it alone.
I had the exact same problem three weeks ago. And I’m still pretty embarrassed about it but I just took it in steps. The first person i confided in was my partner but he already knew about the problem so it was easier. We made the decision to talk to my doctor about it and then my shrink who are medical professionals so that was a good next step. Then came the hard parts…family and friends. I started with my younger sister, then older brother, followed by best friend, mom after that and last and hardest my dad. It got easier as I kept telling people but its terrifying at first. You dont want to disappoint anyone or have them think less of you and that’s understandable! But doing something this hard on your own is just torture. Plus the true loved ones will always have your back. Try writing it down for yourself, who you feel most comfortable with and what youd like to say.
Plus you’ve just told all of us so that’s a pretty bad ass place to start I for one am really proud of you keep it up and dont hesitate to reach out.

You Go Girl!!!
We’ve all been there, 1 day , 2 days, 1 week. The key is to keep trying and learning each time. Each time it gets longer, you learn more, and eventually it will stick. The more sober days you add up the more you will realize how bad it was before. Good Luck!!!
I highly recommend checking in daily to maintain focus on the checking in daily to maintain focus. It really helps. You’ve got this
@ELO
E, here is the daily check-in thread that @anon89207786 indicated.
It is a running check-in thread for folks on TS.

Say NO to the drink that matters most. The first drink.
