Ukulele? How cool! What prompted you to learn how to play?
Yoga didn’t really happen this morning. Instead, it turned into a pretty hilarious dance session with my partner. Laughter is so therapeutic.
If anyone needs some uplifting tunes today check these out
I’ve always played piano and a plethora of brass and woodwind instruments. I guess it’s just time to try strings. 🤷 I have a bass im learning to play, also.
Early start. Today was the kriya for removing negativity and tension. It ended with my favorite protection mantra, Mangala Charn.
Going to see a challenging family member in a few hours so I’m grateful to start my day this way, feels good. Happy Saturday everyone
I wanted to share how sad I was to see that Leslie Fightmaster just died, age 50. I loved her yoga videos. She discovered yoga in recovery from alcoholism at a young age. I loved her smile and her joy. Everyone does Yoga with Adriene, including me, and Adriene is great. But I loved that Leslie looked less like an actor, less quote unquote perfect. She was my age. She had kids. It’s sad. I think I will re-do her 90 Days of Yoga, as a homage, and also because it’s a really good program, on youtube.
I love Adrienne !!!︎:heavy_heart_exclamation:︎:heavy_heart_exclamation:︎
I will check her out !! I’ve been bad about my routine so I’ll get back to it with her
Does anyone have experiences with doing 108 surya namaskar? I was thinking about it.
This is my sister’s new 21 day reset program. I think it would be excellent for anyone in recovery.
I did it. Hell, that was good. 40min, chaturanga, up and down dog. Actually not so difficult to count once you find a rhythm. Which of course gets lost a little bit above 70 or so. Real good experience.
Now, savasana comes naturally
I think I’m in. Her January challenge was a great way to start last year.
I also decided to take my 200hr ytt. I’m learning so much!
I am taking the 200, too! I am doing it mostly because I want to learn for me, at least for now.
That’s why I’m taking it, also.
But, I think I might try to talk to the rehabs around here to see about doing yoga therapy a couple times a week. There’s 3 rehabs here on the sand spit.
I also have a peer counselor certification that I got awhile back in hopes of maybe helping others, but I wasn’t sure how I was going to use it. I think with those things combined I’ll be able to help other addicts .
Help in a way that helped me and made sense to me.
Yoga and therapy really have been a big part of my treatment plan.
After coming and going with my yoga practice I restarted the YWA Home series this month and got back to day 18. I remembered that this was the point where I dropped out last time, having found the emotional side of it too difficult. This time round I just focused on the physical and it was ok.
I have lost a lot of flexibility and am struggling with strength in my legs, but I have been enjoying making yoga part of my routine again. Not made it every day, but most days over the last few weeks.
I was thinking about whether or not to start the YWA January series on time, or wait til I’ve finished Home and then catch up… But seeing that you guys will be doing Breath (@EarnIt @Sober_Ninja @liv_m) I will join you!
I have always been a ‘planner’ person. Generally they have all been work related. This year since I have moved away from work, and more to fine tuning my emotional, spiritual, and physical self, I decided to get a different kind of planner. It is beautiful. I don’t want to overload you with pictures but I am like
It’s slightly more expensive than what I normally spend on my yearly planner, but it looks like it will be worth it.
I’m going to need a link to that, please.
