Day 2 Dedicate :ballot_box_with_check:

I really appreciate taking the time to ease in and focus on the basics. The breath, the foundation. It’s something I’m thinking about in my new job, the nature of my last job meant it was easy to let some bits of good practice slip. I’ve got so many ideas but I also need to take the time to get good at walking again before I start to run.

I was also thinking about the question from day one, why do I want to build up a daily yoga practice again. Being honest with myself it’s been because I want to get back to how I was (or how I think I was) around a year ago. But that’s such a bad reason, and it probably hasn’t helped me stick with a daily practice. There is no going back, only forward.

I do love the way I feel after spending time on the mat and that is a good reason. I love the whole set up of Dedicate too, literally dedicating time to self care. I love the strength in my body that develops with a regular yoga practice.

I don’t know if I will maintain a daily practice past the 30 days, because I don’t know if that is too inflexible. I’m not good with routines and when my mental health takes a nose dive not sticking to these arbitrary targets I set myself gives me another reason to feel bad about myself. For now though, I’m feeling super zen and happy to be on the journey :pray::sparkling_heart:

I want to go back to my fluffy pink cloud where I was doing well with all my exercise and health goals and depression wasn’t kicking my arse. I know it wasn’t all good though and I am looking back with rose tinted glasses. Need to stop comparing and just be here now. That is my intention for every practice, be here now. Yin last night was just what I needed. So glad I went, nearly got stuck on the sofa!

Hope you’re feeling better today.

Dedicate day 3 done this morning :ballot_box_with_check:

Hey-o!

I’ve been really struggling with working out and doing yoga :frowning:
I was doing so well for a while and just fell off and now I’m lazy and lost all my muscle tone and progress. I hate starting from the beginning again. It’s true if you take just one day off you can get in the habit of taking 100 days off. Really need some motivation. I’m just always so tired.

Well done :wink::+1::+1:

When I feel like this I make myself do 5 minutes of something, quiet often after 5 minutes I’m motivated to keep going and do more, And the days that 5 minutes is all I can muster then that’s cool too. I hope you find you mojo soon :kissing_heart:

Starting off small steps is good, yoga in the house build up gradually 10 minutes then 13 or 15 then 20 etc, you’ll find it less a challenge and then become routine with your daily activities

Exercise wise again small steps go for a walk if possible then gradually build up your routine. Just give yourself so many days a week to relax and the rest workout etc lol

Oh and loads of meditation & breathing exercises to unwind is a treat lol :grin:

You’ll get there :v::wink:

I have had exactly the same thing. This week I’ve been back at it but it’s happened after a shift in my mental health. When I’m feeling shit I can’t manage all of everything. Even though it annoys the hell out of me, really that’s just life. It will change and I think the thing is just trying to do what you can, when you can :pray::sparkling_heart:

Some good new ones I’ve recently added into my yoga daily routine. The Utkata Konasana method is very good once you get the hang off it and no giggling away as I was at first getting my balance right lol :wink::v::blue_heart::pray:

Enjoy peeps!

I’ve passed over this thread a few times, finally read this morning. 50 year old male here, I do tough mudders and similar. Really want to give hot yoga a try but slightly embarrassed and not very bendy. Is jumping right into a hot class a bad idea?

Yoga is (or should be) totally none judgemental, it’s not about how bendy you are it’s about showing up and being present and celebrating your uniqueness on each given day. Get yourself along and keep us posted how you get on :+1::star_struck:

Please post to update us on how it goes. I’m much the same as you in that I’m inflexible and have never tried yoga of any kind but I would like to give it a try.:slightly_smiling_face:

All the feels. Working on being here now. And love the advanced yoga pose at the end (hint, it’s something absolutely everyone can do) :person_in_lotus_position::white_flower:
