Checking in daily to maintain focus #71

Day 6 AF.

When I woke up, it took me a few seconds to realize that I hadn’t been drinking yesterday and so no hangover, no headache, no shame of things I have said.

What a relief!

I am very tired though, maybe a kind of withdrawal.

It’s a great feeling, isn’t it? Congratulations on 6 days!

Tiredness is definitely a result of withdrawal, you have been running on ‘alcoholic coma’ for a while and the body most certainly has developed a sleep deficit. Try and rest when you can, it will help recharge and take your mind off cravings.

Icebathing makes a difference. Temperature falls to 6 degree. Slowly it’s getting more serious.

Interesting which suggestions of “why not going today” my mind makes. Nice practice to find distance to my thoughts.

I’ll stay sober today

Much love guys :cherry_blossom:

310 days sober.
24 days without vaping :diya_lamp: // 29 days no THC.

It feels good to be here, at this point, with these numbers.

I am doing a kind of fake “wellness” retreat in my flat today for myself and my other half. We plan somatic practices in the morning and a CCB… (I’ve booked us both tickets to do live conscious connected breathwork later this month… In a church with amazing acoustics…). Facemasks, face steam, foot peel, aromatherapy and massages, nice food, a couple of movies…

Don’t get in a rut.

The funeral service for my friend was very informal, which was nice. It was a strange mingling of sadness and joy. It was nice to see colleagues from 20 years ago, all aged in different ways, form my first job working in addiction care, as a front office clerk. Some really good memories from working there. Even if it was long before I realized I had a drink and drug problem myself. Anyway, it was a good meeting, just very sad that Rogier himself wasn’t there. And that it takes the death of a dear colleague and friend to bring us back together.

Seeing the glasses of wine lined up later in the meeting gave me some memories of earlier services, and how deaths and funerals and such were occasions and excuses to drink in great excess. Didn’t make me crave, just pensive. I biked up and down there which was nice too. On my way back I checked out my former local but none of my old friends were there, just some of the same old tired backs sitting at the bar, folks I never called my friends. So I rode on and biked home. Fed Luna and myself, cuddled up on the couch and watched some tv.

I slept long, still feel a bit tired, but I see the sun’s out. I feel like some shopping and biking today. Let’s have as good a day as w all can friends. Sober and clean or nothing will come from it. Love.

@SadMemeQueen Thinking of you Megan. Hugs.

@1in8billion :pray:t4::pray:t4::pray:t4: thank you for sharing. Such an amazing insight

It truly is! The tiredness is normal as all your energy is being used to detox and heal. The first few weeks is rough. It does get easier. Way to go with day 6 :muscle:t4:

How cool is that. Great idea and hope the two of you enjoy all the benefits :pray:t4::hugs:

Checking in early Saturday morning
No sleep delirium is kicking in. Glad today is low key. Supposed to visit with my sister tomorrow which luckily is to watch the Lions game so will be low key.
Starting to develop a headache and hopefully it’ll go away and not get worse.

Wishing you a wonderful addiction free day - sending you all so much love :heart:

Getting close to 500 days milestone. Who would expect  For sure not me, 500 days ago. Its the longest sober period in my life, since I met my old best friend and my biggest enemy - alcohol. I had one 12-13 months long break before (after which I thought I can moderate, ha ha ha), I wasn’t drinking while pregnant, but this one is the longest. And I keep going. I’m not planning to waste my life ever again.

Yesterday we were in polish supermarket and it always cheer me up. We are not shopping there often, maybe once in few months. There are some things that are typical polish and I like them. Or it’s just sentimental. Anyway, I ate waaaaay to much yesterday. But like REALLY much. I have to eat more veggies and less crap. Period.

Today? I’m planning to go for a run finally.

Wish you all good day/night and whatever you have now you crazy upside down ppl from Australia  Much love 🩵

@Mischa84 What are your favourites from the polish shop? For me it was Prince Polo for a very long time and kiełbasa krakowska  And we need those lantern photos :izakaya_lantern:

@Cjp That song seems to be a trigger for many a person. A friend of mine once worked in an office where this song was played for days on an endless loop. Whenever he hears it now he gets into such a rage :rage: And he usually is one of the calmest people I know.
@Mira_D Really nice to hear your new job is so satisfying
@Heath Thank you for sharing your painful journey to sobriety with us. We all sometimes think we are all alone in our pain, and here I can see every day that people all around the world go through it. Glad to hear you are in a good place right now.
@Millie_1987 Welcome to our community  There are threads here targeting your specific addiction here. Furthermore I can always recommend attending meetings with a recovery programm.

Feeling very exhausted today. Gray day. Did the groceries, but forgot some stuff. Will have to go a second time.
Today is time for taking car of my IT-tools, my plants and all kind of stuff around the home. The rest is for chilling. Have a nice book and a great game here.
Some yoga in the afternoon, a meeting in the evening.

Today’s picture is the skin a snake shed I saw at the Arnhem zoo this year. We don’t have many snakes around here and I am terrified of them. So seeing them through the glass in a zoo is absolutely enough for me

Peace and love for life always :lotus:

Good day today. Busy with the kids, but managed to get some training in for myself too.
At work tonight, last shift till I’m on leave for a bit.
Great work @Mischa84 500 would seem like an impossible number to reach in those early days. You replied to my first post when I had 3 days and you had 150 approx days, encouraging me. Your 150 days seemed like a huge number. Your reply and seeing you continue to post and add days was a great help to me early on. Thank you.
