Revealing the dark world of the Porn Industry - Articles May Be Triggering

Just as a warning, the article may be triggering to some. The porn industry is rife with abuse of actors and is frequently linked to trafficking.

Here’s another knowledge drop. What is incredibly disturbing about the porn industry is the amount of porn that features incest, and rape. It also pushes the boundaries on young models to look underaged, normalizing pedophilia. It’s all so unrealistic and sickening. Open your eyes and realize that this is not good for society, it’s a plague that’s just beginning to spread.

Thanks for sharing this! As much as people don’t want to think about it or agree with it, pornography is not a good thing. I’m glad there are more and more articles like this coming out to reveal the sickness that most people think is just normal. Hell, I did!
(Honestly I didn’t read the articles I only read the headlines to keep from being triggered)

That’s why I stated that it can be triggering. I read some of their articles, but leave most untouched as well. They can be triggering. I just want to share so others who dont have our unique problem are aware. It is a huge problem too!

I remember one article that interviewed ex-pornstars about their experience. They said that they were under contract to talk the industry up and act like its glamorous and that they love it and can’t get enough, but secretly are abused and are often addicted to drugs given them by producers. One actress told a story about how she had a shoot, but was seriously I’ll and had a fever. The crew and actor didn’t care though and forced her to perform. Tons of stories just like this. It’s a nightmare.

Evidence that the adult industry are child exploitation are intimately linked. The corruption is deep. Porn is not okay.

We talked about this regularly in graduate school. Scary stuff :pensive: thank you for sharing!

Yeah, it’s something that pains me a lot, since I have kids, yet have knowingly contributed towards the problem by indulging in porn.

Well, we can’t beat ourselves up for things we didn’t know in the past. It’s hidden for a reason. If more people knew, they’d be outraged. I think what’s important is that you now have this information and you’re in a position to educate and help others!

True. But, I knew while I used. I’m working to help others understand the damaging effects of it.

Well, I’m thankful you’re posting more information about it! Education and knowledge are the key to change, IMO

So, one of my greatest fears raising 5 boys in this day and age, is that they will go down the same path that I did. Kids are being exposed to pornography at younger and younger ages. As young as 6-8 now. It’s horrifying. It would break my heart if even one of my boys had to go through what I did.

Anyway, we’re taking the offense here, by making our boys aware of the harm and dangers of pornography. We came across this gem, recommended by many other parents. We’ve read it with our three older boys.

That’s really interesting. I worry about the next generation too. How did your boys react? Did they share whether or not they’ve come across porn already?

My only concern would be that it might associate shame with watching pornography. I do wish when my parents found out I was viewing porn there had been more of a conversation around it and not strait shame and punishment. Good on you for taking the issue head on.

The book wasnt shaming. It was more informative. Talked about how it wasnt realistic and that it warps the way your brain sees things. It put it in kids words. You have a thinking brain and a feeling brain. They’re both important, but cannot function without each other. There must be a balance.

They haven’t come across anything like that, but they’ve had issues with kids on the playground showing off privates and stuff like that. It’s only a matter of time though. We try to have a special time set aside for each of our boys 1-2 times per week, where it’s just us and the boy. We talk and see how they’re feeling.

My old sponsor did that with each of his kids every week. Good practice I think. Thanks for sharing!

This may be triggering for sex addicts. I really want the word our there though that the porn industry may be all about strengthening people’s sex lives, but it is often at the cost of performer’s health, mentally and physically.

For that matter, is porn really healthy for anyone? Research on consumption of porn shows that when one consumes it, they have similar chemical overages in their system, comparable to usage of hard drugs. It is not healthy and it is not right.

Just finished watching a documentary on Ted Bundy, one of the most prominent serial killers in US history. The following has actual quotes from him before his execution.

Bundy said he first discovered “soft core pornography” in grocery stores, and was compelled to consume more, and increasingly violent, forms.

“…like an addiction, you keep craving something harder, which gives you a greater sense of excitement, until you reach a point where the pornography only goes so far.”

It was an “indispensable link in the chain of behavior” that led to the assaults and murders that he carried out on dozens of victims, he said. It also was a common factor among other violent offenders that he encountered during his stays in prison.

“I’ve lived in prison for a long time now and I’ve met a lot of men who were motivated to commit violence just like me and without exception, every one of them was deeply involved with pornography. Without question, without exception, deeply influenced and consumed by addiction to pornography,” he added.

When asked about his fate, he said: “I think society deserves to be protected from me and from others like me. That’s for sure.”

Have you watched Rashida Jones’ documentary on Netflix? I came across it and, from some of the things you’ve shared here, thought about watching it. Haven’t brought myself to it yet.

When it comes to this stuff it’s weird for me. I don’t watch psych/horror flicks, either. Bit of a, “Yeah, I get it. I really don’t need to see more.” Maybe I’m afraid I really don’t get it and the truth is so much worse.

I’ll get curled up in bed now and watch this.
