If you really don’t want to use medical supervision (which is highly recommended), the thing to do is to cut down your intake by 10% per day as an absolute maximum. Cutting back 5% a day is better. To keep the risk of one or more seizures and other serious consequences of withdrawal as low as possible. I’ve never seen a real addict succeed in doing it this way btw. The amount of discipline needed to do it is incredible. Doing it under medical supervision is endlessly better.
And for us all there is no amount safe to keep consuming. The only control we have of our drinking is abstain from it. The only way to abstain from drinking is to work on our recoveries. How exactly your recovery should be, you have to find out for yourself. Although there are many common elements amongst us.
I think your thought process is upside down. The only stress we eliminate from our lives by drinking is the stress of withdrawal, the stress of being an addict in active addiction. The only way to get a balanced live is to quit drinking and work on recovery. Recovery is building ourselves a life we don’t need to run from (by drinking). Sobriety is the first condition for a better, less stressed and more balanced life.
I’m glad you’re here. Shows me you’re willing to think about stuff, to change your ways and to invest in a better future for yourself. I can say with certainty that none of us here liked to share about our lives in an honest way. But here we are. It helps. It works. We’re in this together. So welcome here friend. Wishing you all success.
