Someone posted this about a year ago and it SSSOOO helped my understanding of addiction. I’ve been looking for it ever since. Whoever posted this a year ago, I’ll be more than happy to give you credit! It played a huge part in my recovery. I’m hoping It can help someone else as well.

This is such a good thing to watch. My father was an alcoholic it is definitely genetic. I really got so very much from this clip. Thankyou Rebecca! Awesome share :clap:t2::clap:t2::two_hearts:

Thank you, Becky! This really hit home for me. I wish I would have watched it 5 years ago when my addiction really spiraled out of control. I started just like this man did, taking a pill here and there for pain.

This is great, thank you for sharing. It caught me a little off guard actually, took me to some places I wasn’t expecting. Left me with some things to unpack for sure.

So glad @Blondie1x! It’s funny, this whole time I had thought that I couldn’t figure out the genetic link. My parents didn’t allow alcohol in the house and I didn’t grow up around addictions. Then it occurred to me after watching this…my dad adopted me! I have no idea if my biological father was an alcoholic :woman_shrugging: Makes you think :wink::blush:

Yes totally agree Tommi He was both an addict AND a Healthcare professional. I agree, I think his words are powerful. What he says has kept me from relapsing before. I hope it helps others starting their journey as well.

Addiction sneaks up on ya! Twenty years ago, I would have said NO WAY would I ever be an addict! Well, guess what. :roll_eyes: I am now. We’re in a better place now :hugs:
