Breaking the Chain!

I just wanted to post for my own milestone and a quick question.

I’ve never gone more than 2 days without alcohol unless I was pregnant. Now tomorrow will be one week!

I’m feeling good and not having cravings (I’ve been invited out by friends 3x this week and had 3 opportunities yesterday to sneak away and buy something, but didn’t!).

I’m feeling so much better mentally and emotionally, but I feel really flu-ish. I mean, a little sickness has gone through my house but it’s like a nagging headache and congestion for me. Is that normal? I was drinking a case + sometimes more of white claw every day. I just want the headache to go away

Congratulations on one week!! That’s fantastic! For me one of the most important things that first week was learning I could resist an urge, because before that I almost never did. You’re building sober muscles. :flexed_biceps:

I think it’s pretty common to feel crappy for the first few weeks. Your body is going through a lot. Make sure you’re taking care of yourself. And if you haven’t already, check out What’s YOUR plan? It realllllly helped me understand what I was going through!

Hope your headache gets better soon.

Congrats on your 1 week sobriety. Your body system makes a lot of adjustments early on. Dehydration for sure, drink lots of water. Probably lacking some essential vitamins as well. Keep going!

Great job on 1 week sober. No need to turn back now. You know what happens back there. Great things come about in a life of recovery. Keep fighting the good fight!

Yayyyy!! Congrats on one week! :confetti_ball::raising_hands::sparkles:

I definitely had flu like symptoms after I quit, some have withdrawals worse than others so you may want to check in with a doctor if that’s an option :folded_hands:

Make sure to keep hydrated! That’s was a huge deal for me-I like to use electrolyte supplements as well in my water.

Another thing that really helped me early on was HALT, especially since you will start actually feeling again.

Stay connected as much as possible! Even if it is just lurking at first. Rooting for you and you’re in my prayers!! :purple_heart:
