I’m sober now since January 27th 2026. As each day goes by I want to use more and more I go to meetings every morning but they just don’t help I’m in treatment only have about 3 months left there then not sure what’s going to happen. People say just pray about it and to trust in a higher power I try to but it doesn’t help I feel like if I use I’ll fell better.
Talking about it here could be helpful. Reading what others are going through and how they’re dealing with it. Having the outlet here for communication with your peers. You’ll learn tools and be able to express how you feel as much as you wish.
1st congrats on your sober time. 2nd these uncomfortable feelings and cravings wont last forever if you put time into working a program of recovery, analyze what makes you want to cope with your addiction of choice, and process where those beliefs come from and find new ways to cope. A quality sobriety doesnt just come from abstinence it takes work.
Do you feel engaged in the treatment program? What can you do daily to grow your sobriety? Do you have reservations about sobriety?
You dont have to commit to sobriety forever just for today. Recommit to sobriety tomorrow when it comes. One day at a time.
Hi Joe - nearly two months is a solid foundation of sobriety. If the meetings you’re referencing are AA or NA meetings, have you gotten into the action part of those programs, working the steps with a sponsor? Cravings are part of early sobriety, and we do learn to deal with them from tips and experience we hear at meetings. But abstinence alone is not going to be enough for us, we do need to grow sobriety, to start to change our thinking and feelings and behaviors to orient ourselves toward being sober.
Prayer is fine if you feel it helps, and faith/trust that things are going to get better is absolutely essential, A sponsor will help you put into action the honesty required, and working the steps expands your willingness to do something different.
have a good read around here and talk to your medical staff about it.
