Day one again :(((((

Hi everyone.

So glad I came across this app. I am a 39 year old woman from Austria, and I am an alcoholic for almost 11 years.

I drank approximately twice to three times a week, but a lot. 2 Bottles of wine+ is minimum.

There are days i am drunk and days when i am hangover…theres hardly anything in between.

I just want my happy life back! Before yesterday I was sober for maybe 12 days…i felt sooo good ..so why did i Start again???

There are a lot of alcoholics in my family, i started with 15 years on the weekends and became an addict 2015.

I am glad to share my Story and thank god there is a community….i feel so alone. My boyfriend Supports me with Quittung but He just dont know how it feels to be addicted.

Thank you for being here….i send all my love to every Fighter here.

Welcome :sunflower:
Have a good read around and learn how addiction works and why we have to put daily work into recovery. Staying sober is easy. Working recovery takes effort.

Welcome :purple_heart:. I remember that time well, drunk or waiting to drink or hungover. I also got sober a couple of times, and then fell for the ‘I must be fine now’ lie. I really loved reading books about sobriety at the beginning of my journey. ‘This Naked Mind’ and ‘Drink’ were two that really stood out. Thanks for joining us and hope to hear more from you.

Good Morning :sun_with_face: Everything in your post makes me feel confident that you can do this. Our alcoholism tells us that we can somehow figure out the perfect formula to drink normally…. We try everything possible to adjust our habits, what we drink, when we drink etc… “the result was NIL until we let go completely” and admit complete defeat. We hate losing, so we continue to fight a losing battle against a foe that WILL kill us.

It sounds as though your brain is slowly realizing this. It takes time, determination and support. I suggest reading about “acceptance” in the Big Book. Use this relapse as a tool. Try keeping your recovery in the day and make it your top priority. Keep us posted and stay vigilante :face_savoring_food:

You can go a life long without drinking bleach, right?
So you can go a life long without drinking alcohol!

Stop before your first glass!

Maybe we should change the way we see the alcohol. Its not a relief or life savior …its the opposite…its Poison for your body & soul!
Society made us belief its fancy and funny to drink. We all know: this is one of the biggest lies of humanity!

Stay strong everybody. So proud of every hour you say NO! and YES to a better life!
