Welcome Marcel! Wishing you all success in your journey. Coming here is a big step in the right direction friend. We’re in this together and realizing that, knowing I can’t do it all alone, knowing there’s help made all the difference to me. You can do this. :people_hugging: from a fellow nurse.

Your post right there is extremely relatable to myself and with my experience with my own sobriety, you are at a very realistic and good start to your sober journey.

Keep it slow..

…Move with grace…

Theres a lot more to learn
and
sobriety will be better then any drink or drug

Day 0 and day 1 are theeeeeeeee most important days. You cant start without them

Im on your side and cheering for you.

Keep your self occupied in the early days. It doesn’t have to be complex thoughts. A walk in the rain sounds fantastic. Listening to the sounds of the world around is helpful.

I’m sure we’ve all felt ashamed and sad. I know I have, but I’ve used that as the drive to bring me here. Use it as a friend, not an enemy. You might not like it, but it’s a good tool. We are all human and have made mistakes. Stay strong.

thank you so much . i really needed and will need that . as you said , the past is a huge mist and the future is frightening so it seems to be most important to keep things slow .

It’s one of the many good things of doing this sobriety stuff together. There’s a lot of common wisdom that’s shared amongst us. Wisdom we all have to keep fresh in our minds too. One day at a time is another one of these wisdoms. The future is unknown, and therefore frightening. So we will keep our sobriety just for today. Today is comprehensible. I will not indulge in my addictive behaviours today.

Tomorrow I might, and very probably will, make that same promiso to myself. But that’s not for now. It’s about now. Of course we also need to plan ahead. That’s something we can do now our minds are no longer occupied by addiction. Planning makes the future much less frightening too, something exciting, something to look forward to. But lets start with today. You got this today, and so do I, and you got me and I got you. We can do this friend.
