Stuck between rehab and IOP

I AMA’d from rehab because I wasn’t safe physically. I’m trying to get back in an inpatient but I’m not suicidal. I’ve been promised an IOP but they haven’t given me a date yet. I’ve already slipped twice. Any ideas how to not drink tomorrow.

Do you like throwing away your money? Probably not. Do you like hurting yourself and the ones you love? Probably not. Do you want to stay where you are in life? Probably not. Will anything change if you don’t quit? Absolutely not. If you really want to quit, make the commitment. You CAN do it! I did and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done for myself and the ones I love. Addiction is destructive in every case. Once you realize that, it’s a no brainer. Life without out it is amazing.

Sorry for your struggles. Can/would you be willing to go to meeting? Until IOP opens and even once in it I’d recommend them. They’ve helped a lot of folks and continue to. This place too, but in the beginning it helps the more we are surrounded by those who understand & care.

To live life differently, we gotta do shit differently. Hugs friend.

Welcome to the community. I hope something in the comments will be helpful for you and help you be the sober person you want to be.
Whatever tools that you learned in the inpatient, if they were helpful, then try to remember them and what helped you there. There is lots of help here. You can keep posting and posting and posting and not drinking. Lots of good suggestions here as far as getting outside care.

Welcome to an awesome sober community full of people from around the world who understand addiction and the insidiousness of it all. My advice would be to find somewhere safe. Is your home free of your drug of choice? Stay away from temptations. Find a meeting. Could be aa, na, dharma recovery, smart recovery…there are many. Just voice your struggle and people will understand and relate and hopefully you feel some support. Also, come here and post when your cravings seem too much and you need to be talked off the ledge.

Best advice i learned was cravings dont last forever. We dont have to give in to them. Ride the crave. Every craving you get thru without using is strengthening your sober muscle.

Learning sober tools is different than practicing your sober tools. What can you remember from inpatient that could be helpful now?
