These things happen it’s the comeback that matters

Ruined it all last night, went to a mates for a chill and they pulled it out, me being me couldn’t say no while it was right in front of me! But I’m not going to beat my self up over it! Up for work and we start again today ready for a fresh weekend with my two boys  I do apologise to the community

You dont need to apologise to us here we all know the score, if you are serious about getting and staying sober changes have to be made, just stopping drinking and drugging then going about your life as you did before wont cut it, youve gotta steer clear of where those things will be for a while, i did 3 months until i felt stronger in my sobriety

Glad you were able to come back. Eventually some time it will be the last chance to start over.

I also recommend to work on a plan how to reach and maintain sobriety. This thread might he helpful, have you already read it?

I agree. I have made myself a hermit in the past 2 months. Only going to socialise when my battle armour is REALLY strong.

I mean, i know it feels boring/strange to begin with but i feel like whats a few months out of your life to give yourself a decent start at being sober… its hard enough without making it even harder by being around it

Yes and I also need to get used to the calm life. It’s going to be boring in comparison the chaos of before.

Its a difficult one that…my whole life was chaos even when i was a kid, then ‘life and soul’ of every party i went to, always the drunk one, always the last to leave…it was ‘fun’ until it really wasnt and i was paying the full cost of the chaos… its a massive stretch to the calmness but its worth it in the end because eventually the fun becomes real and not just the product of artificial drunken antics, feeling comfortable in the calm, the everyday stillness is something im still working on though

This is one of those instances where the people, places, and things actually applies strongly. Simply avoiding those things won’t keep you sober in the long run, but especially in early sobriety it is a very good practice to watch out for them because you’re still building your foundation. I was living with my dad in early sobriety and moved out and into an oxford house within a couple months because he’s a drinker and keeps alcohol in the house which was really hard for me at first. I can be around it without it bothering me or wanting it now, but it took time and effort. For now I’d say keep those things in mind and be open to friends about how important your sobriety is to you
