Trying to distract myself

Do you guys have any ideas of ways i can distract myself from trying to hurt myself? I’ve been struggling with that and i’d like some advice. :slight_smile:

I’m so glad you came here. You are worthy of honoring your body.

There are many ways you can ground yourself. Search Google for mindfulness activities such as the 5 senses: 5 things you can see, 4 things you can hear, 3 things you can touch, etc. Another great way to distract yourself is by a word association game.

Think of a theme, for example “animals”.

Think of an animal the starts with the last letter of each one you think of:

Elephant

Tiger

Rabbit

Tortoise

Etc.

If you are talking about self-harm, there are many here who suffer with it. When my son was intensely in that situation, we found a lot of help with apps and websites. Every person who struggles with it tends to need a different approach. He tried a lot of recommendations and a few hit the intensity appropriately.
