Rushed supper the other night after really busy day called for chicken stuffed with ham & Swiss from the freezer. With some slightly freezer burnt baby Brussels
Was craving some tuna and it will be good protein and energy but I don’t have any bowls so I’m using this measuring cup lol.. I Guess whatever works But at 36 years old I’m still learning how to be an adult and I really don’t have that much kitchen stuff but little by little I’ve been getting things. At least I have a can opener and I have the mayo to mix with the tuna !!
Ps: The measuring cup got delivered at my job on the truck day by accident we don’t even have measuring cups because it’s a hardware store lol so I took one home because they said I could have it. It will be good to have for when I make rice for the crockpot so I can measure water amounts
I recently was thinking about making rice crispy treats! Because I bought some at the family Dollar recently and I was thinking they’re probably easy to make… The real ones and there’s probably lots of things you could add to make them even better. Like maybe peanut butter chips or something or some kind of chocolate type thing. This might be a good introduction to baking because it’s probably pretty simple. I remember you saying in a previous post about how you have to be really precise with measurements and you’re right it is like that with baking you can’t just wing it lol if you’re a little bit off with something then it doesn’t work or something goes wrong.
Yeah I believe rice crispies treats are pretty straight forward to make. I use to watch my grandma make them, I loved them as a kid but I really don’t like marshmallows now as I got older I’m pretty sure you just melt marshmallows and mix them with rice crispies but I could be wrong. And yeah it’s all measurements and stuff I’ve been obsessed with cooking my whole life and I used to be a chef so I’m used to just cooking by taste and adding things as I go. But so far everything I’ve baked has turned out good ( so far ) *knocks on wood* Quitting alcohol has made me crave sweets, I’ve eaten more sweet stuff in the last 4 months then I have in the last 10 years haha.
That’s cool having memories like that. I think I’m definitely going to try to make them maybe even tomorrow..
I bet that’s been very useful being a chef and understanding cooking like that..
As far as craving the sweets I think that’s pretty normal and I definitely understand because I’m still eating a lot of sugar even at almost 600 days but I’m willing to bet or I’m assuming it has to do with the fact that alcohol is primarily sugar or it takes sugar to make alcohol. If it’s beer there is lots of carbohydrates which your body turns into sugar and liquor has a lot of sugar so maybe the sweets and candy tricks your brain and releases the same feel good things like alcohol does in a sense like Dopamine or something!! Either way that’s an awesome alternative. I’m not going to eat a bag of donuts and wake up not knowing what happened or wake up in a different state wearing only one shoe and having a massive headache!
I picked these up in the market today. Fallow deer from Ashdown forest. Got a stunning shoulder and two bags of bones for stew and stocks. All in the freezer for winter slow cooks. Fresh as a daisy, sustainable and organic meat, very reasonably priced and will make a hell of a lot of good food.
I reckon the shoulder will make four to six meals and the bones will make probably the same amount of meals. I absolutely love nose to tail cooking, it’s my personal passion.
Kiddo had an evening “play date” (or whatever it’s called for his age a hangout?) at schoolmate’s in a nearby town to watch a movie outside.. so we stopped for supper before. It was noisy as Jay’s game was on and there were lots of hardcore fans
Sundried tomato pesto salmon for me. Was craving salmon all week. Started with soft pretzels which he loves (remembered to take pic after most were eaten)
I just biked past this Cambodian food store which I never realized was there! I’m definitely going to have to stop there on my way home after my meeting! I don’t even know what will be there but it’s probably interesting.. maybe They have some Cambodian Ramen
