I’m new to this app. Dec 2022 is when I last drank.
Prior to that I had quit drinking for about 10 year.
I made the mistake that many probably have done before, I thought that after 10 years things would be different and I could control my drinking, and it worked for a while alright but I gradually lost control again so I decided to quit for good in 2022.
I was on another community before this but it had turned into a bit of a dark place and no longer suited me so I left. Hoping I can lean on this new community instead.
Welcome to the forum!! Glad u found us! Congratulations on ur sober time! This is a wonderful community of people. Ive been on here for over 3 years and its always been such a positive place
Welcome here,
Your story sounds a bit like mine. I was 5 years sober and then thought I was “cured”.
Sober again for 6 years with the help of this app and the people in it. Happy to be part of this community.
See you around
Welcome TC
Congratulations on almost 2 years sober. That’s amazing. This is a great sober community. I been around almost 5 years now. Keeps me sober.
Have a good read around. Lots of wonderful peeps on here just trying not to pick up that first drink or DOC
I love the gratitude thread. It’s how I start my day.
Welcome! I keep coming back here because it is a supportive community. My situation is similar to yours as I had 2+ years of sobriety before I figured I’d just start drinking “normally” but we all know how that goes. Good thing is, your 10 years and everything you learned during that time doesn’t disappear….you are even more prepared to succeed this time. Congrats on the almost 2 years you have strung together this time! I hope you find this forum to be a better fit for your needs.
@TeaCosy Thank you for sharing your experience; it really helps us. It reminds me that we cannot drink in moderation because we are addicts and cannot drink like other people. I have a similar situation: when I drink with my friends, they drink, then eat proper food, and the next day they go to work as usual. But for me, it’s different—if I have one drink, I’ll be absent for four days, won’t eat anything, and it affects me badly. So now, I’m staying away from that first drink. This forum has really helped me with that.
