Grateful for so many gratitudes that there’s another new thread!!! Grateful that autumn is actually really finally here. Hasn’t reached 80 degrees for several days :fallen_leaf::maple_leaf:

Grateful that I’m halfway through my work project. I’m grateful that the work is landscaping every Saturday, it’s an excellent workout. Grateful that it’s another reminder of why I need to maintain my sobriety. Grateful for my sober friends on this app, as always

Good morning / afternoon my sober peeps :sun_with_face: :sunflower:

I am so very grateful for…
🪻My loving sister. Got to spend some time with her this weekend and it was lovely to see her.
🪻My family and all the support/ love they shower me with
🪻My Higher Power! I would be completely lost without Him
🪻 Coffee! Coffee in bed in a beautiful Fall morning :sun_with_face: :fallen_leaf::coffee:
🪻A friend sending me lovely videos from his day adventures. Brightens my day and the sounds are very soothing
🪻 ability to rest and recharge. Last week took a lot outta me (was expected so not shocked).
🪻 Awareness that drinking and getting high will not help me any. The momentary numbness is doomed with regrets and worse of all…the uncertainty that I’ll be able to get sober again.
🪻This community and it’s wonderful support.
🪻Still can’t get over how many trees have leaves on em still. Usually the wind storms hit hard in September/ October and everything is bare by Halloween. Lovely to see such beautiful colors :heavy_heart_exclamation:
🪻 Waking up to another day filled with possibilities
🪻 ability to stay positive. Have some hard negative moments but overall can find my way back to the light

Wishing everyone a wonderful addiction free day. Sending you all so much love :heart:

:upside_down_face: “We must withdraw ourselves, to some extent, from the effects that are beyond our control and be content with the good will and the work that are the quiet expression of our inner life.”
Thomas Merton (No Man is an Island)

:upside_down_face: I’m grateful the speaker at my AA meeting said he didn’t have a problem with alcohol. He had a Problem with FEAR.

:upside_down_face: I’m grateful fear seems to be a common denominator with a lot of people I’ve met in the rooms.
:upside_down_face: I’m grateful after almost 3 years I finally got my ass in a seat. My reason was? Fear. I’m grateful alcohol was not my problem anymore but what the fuck do I do with all this fear I have.
:upside_down_face: I’m grateful I heard exactly what I needed at that meeting yesterday. What else is new :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
:upside_down_face: I’m grateful I read this, this morning, from my Gratitude friends book LIVING THESE DAYS 102 insights in the direction of wholeness.

:upside_down_face: Most often, we can’t put our finger on fear, it has no real obvious cause. Sometimes we sense a general undercurrent of anxiety that reminds us of potential uncertainty and chaos, a voice telling us that all hell could break loose at any moment. We are at the mercy of background noises that remind us we don’t really know what might happen, and that we are not in control.…………

:upside_down_face: I’m grateful it was such a great reading for me this morning.

:upside_down_face:……it continued………
:upside_down_face: We set ourselves up for anxiety when we try to grasp some sense of predictability in areas that are really not known or uncertain.……………

:upside_down_face: I’m grateful this hit home for me in my Al-Anon recovery.

:upside_down_face:………… If we are waiting, or hoping that everything will eventually settle down, or for all the negative situations to be attended to we are not really living in the real world. Living with any degree of contentment, is about having a comfortable recognition of the truth, that things are ceaselessly uncertain.……………….
:upside_down_face: I’m grateful it finished up with….wait for it……

:upside_down_face: This is why practices of daily gratitude, surrender and opportunities to widen our perspective, are essential to ongoing work with fear and anxiety, and ultimately toward our own wholeness and well-being.
:upside_down_face: I’m grateful Richard Burr wrote that book.
:upside_down_face: I’m grateful he is kinda the reason we are all here today on this wonderful home thread.

:upside_down_face: I’m grateful we all get to be here when we can.
:upside_down_face: I’m grateful the healing :mending_heart: can begin today.
:upside_down_face: I’m grateful for love :two_hearts: there’s no other way :pray:t2:

:pray:t2:  :upside_down_face:

Today I’m grateful for small things. You know, the things we don’t think about everyday. For example the smile on my nephews face as he said good morning to me. Or the way sun rises to warm the field and melt away the frost on the ground. It’s the details I didn’t always see when I was drinking or hungover.

Nice :+1:
I’m grateful those little things all add up.
My little thing is the hummingbird I see in the morning in my garden. I always wonder if he is the same one each day.
