I havent read any recovery based books so I cant help there.

My favourite books though, are novels that have been translated. You get a completely different feel from the writing styles youd be used to from your native language. My favourites are:

Independent People - Hallador Laxness (this is my favourite book full stop)
The Golem - Gustav Meyrink
The Tin Drum - Gunter Grass

For pleasure high fantasy has always been my thing. If your a Game of Thrones type then:

The stormlight archive - Brandon Sanderson
The first law trilogy - Joe Abercrombie

About to try the kingkiller chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss which came highly recommended

For sobriety Russel Brands Recovery is a great place to start regardless of the addiction.

Happy reading!
